I doubt that breh. Go up to a random individual and ask them if they know who Macho Man was, watch how many people say hell yeah. Do the same for Cena & watch how many people go :yeshrug:

Tier 0:
Hogan- Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY knows who Hulk Hogan is. Hulk has/is/will FOREVER be the face of wrestling.

Rock & Austin- Pre-teens/teens of the late 90's associate wrestling with these two men.

Tier 1:
Macho Man- If you scratched the surface of wrestling in the late 80's early 90's you know who the Macho Man is. Slim Jim advertising helped too.

Flair- His mannerisms (woo's/strut) are legendary. Leader of the most dominant stable in the 80s. First time I ever head of ringwork/wrestling skill was homies talking about Flair.

Undertaker- The gimmick. The deadman. The sit up while laying down, the tombstone, the chokeslam, the bell tolls. All legendary. In my opinion his gimmick is the GOAT, and easiest to "suspend your beliefs"

Obviously people have mentioned him but it's easy to overlook how Andre the Giant permeated pop culture. Just the name itself would be known by most even if they didn't know exactly where it was from.

New Jersey in a new jersey
1.Hogan he was the face of wrestling and was a literal icon.
2&3.The Rock and SCSA revitalized the WWF in wake of HBK's injury. I mean they were getting their's before his injury but how their feud during the Corporation angle and so on caused so many more fans to turn from Nitro to tune into Raw. Then the movies, either one of them now are still instant ratings draws. Not to mention they have so many legendary promos, neither were ring technicians but put still put on classic matches.

4.Macho Man Randy Savage- he was so mainstream in pop culture during the 80's and 90's it's not even funny. His voice alone made him an endorsement and small role/cameo magnet.

5. Rick Flair- he is about as icon a heel as they get.He is probably the greatest heel of all time.

If we were doing a top 10 Piper, HBK,Hart,Taker, and Foley would have to be mentioned.

Lol@ring ability being mentioned on popularity...CNN dont care about ring ability but they know of Rock/Hogan/Macho Man/Benoit. Japan...Africa....Asia too. Some of these answers are hilarious...some of you have no idea how big the Mega Powers were. Its kind of sad...Lol@ bringing up Bret and Michaels and not the Nwo or Goldberg. There is no fukking way you can really believe that.

People forget how recognizable that man was

The generic wrestler in the Simpsons (u fight in the arcade game too) is a knock off of Andre. Everybody knew who he was, wrestling fan or not cuz of his size

El Santo and Rikidozan are the Hogans of Mexico and Japan. Or maybe Hogan is the Santo of the US :leon: I know Americans don't know them but they should be on a list of all time popular wrestlers worldwide.
