Movies like Fight Club and Blade Runner 2049 are too cerebral for the average movie going audience so I’m not surprised they flopped

Plus, Fight Club and Galaxy Quest were marketed as if they were trying to sell a different movie than what we got on screen.
Fight Club was marketed like an action movie about a guy trying to make it in they world of underground MMA fighting or something.
Galaxy Quest was marketed like a SpaceBalls/Airplane 2 "screwball" comedy that mocked geeks who were into Sci Fi TV shows.
