I can't speak on every city, but in Cleveland they remodeled some of the projects. They look like fukking town homes you'd pay 800+ in the suburbs for. I went over this one girl house and her shyt was actually nicer than mine

I agree with @BrothaZay it's not the community it's the people. You can have nice looking neighborhoods and it will still be shyt. nikkas don't know to appreciate anything. Until the mentality change, our neighborhoods will stay the same.

I know racism it still alive today but at one point we have to start blaming ourselves also. Too many nikkas don't have that drive to do better, or if they do it's for the wrong reasons.

When Brazil started putting in AA in place based on the percentage of black/native blood, it got a lot of backlash, and a lot of the arguments are the same used by whites here.

IDK, I shouldn't be surprised, but I'm a bit frustrated about how all these white/asian kids think that just for being black they hand you out jobs and college acceptances on a silver platter, even though there are more white/asian people getting these positions due to nepotism or for being legacies than ALL the black people there. Or how they say "It's not what you know, it's who you know" and argue against AA based off of merit. Go to SDN and search "URM advantage" and you'll realize why most black people don't trust physicians.

It's sad because I'm black, I didn't choose it but I love nearly everything about it. Could do without the racism and shyt directed at us but it has forced me to be a more focused person in my lifetime. I HAVE to be on point when it comes to shyt, no slacking. I hate that I do have a bit of some Uncle Ruckus in me as I get older as well. I'm sorry, I look at nikkas with dreads like 2 chainz and just think that they aren't going to get to do anything that can hold down a family with their lives.

As I said in another thread, it comes down to education and family life. I was talking to my best friend yesterday and his girlfriend was like, I can't be around white people. Not to say that this is desirable but why the fukk not? Not saying that you need to assimilate to them but you will more than likely need to interact with them to be successful in this world. Is it because you don't feel confident in how you speak to them and know that you will be judged? Could be a litany of reasons but most, if not all are bullshyt. We go back to blaming 'the white man' too much because far too many of us want shyt handed to us. He was pissed off at this way of thinking. She does some type of adult day care and complains all the time. My boy hit her with the, you need to wonder how it came to this for you if you are spending your day smelling cat piss and feces. What the fukk when wrong?

Be honest with yourselves, if someone were available at a job, regardless of job type and what you do, friends and family in need of a better position, how many could you trust 100% to put your name and credibility on the line? I know a ton of people but I only need one hand to accomplish this. I grew up in a single parent household in Detroit to get to where I am today. I'm in my office right now and I have a secretary fielding calls for me and putting faxes on my desk in my office.

My point is this, we know how the world is going and if you can't even graduate from what is expected of you (high school) I don't think I can trust you to have the drive for much else in life and I damn sure ain't putting my neck out there like that for you.

There are more people that think like that than you think. Some people get a kick on seeing their loved ones suffer because they "become stronger people" despite a better and more constructive option available to avoid the hardship in the first place. they WANT us to kill each other. which is exactly what they are quite adept at in the hood.i will never fault someone who has made their own (especially if they got a family too) for moving out of that environment. you worked your ass off there is no need to subject yourself to substandard living conditions.

and yes i know they gentrifying and even with that, i would only recommend dealing with that if you are young and single or a young couple. aint no need to have to deal with extra shyt when you got your own and trying to raise a family.

Dr Umar Johnson opened my eyes to this topic. I used to think that way as well, but it is our responsibility as black men to take care of our streets because that little boy in the hood that you couldve affected positively may grow up and take your childs life/your life if he stays down that path. When I get to a point in my life where I can make a few moves under the radar I will try to do what I can in the hood.

Thread starter is right, instead of trying to invest in and build up black communities when we make it, we usually just move out of them into white ones and brag about coming up I.e. living among whites
