Take your team to top seeds like Trae and Ayton do and you won’t have these types of problems

NBA first round used to be best 2 of 3 for the lowest seeds. Big deal.

Outside of that fluke season where the Knicks made the Finals in a 50 game season (they'd have caught up and been top 4 playing out a regular season), 7 and 8 seeds are not title contenders and never have been.

My nikka the season is 82 games, so that’s more than enough time to make it into the top 8. Every team rests player, so that excuse doesn’t fly.

People complain about the season being to long already as it is, yet those same dudes are perfectly fine with the league adding more games to the schedule.
NHL plays 82 games in a more grueling sport and has a provision for one game playoffs.

MLB has 162 games and does a 1 game playoff every year.

The number of games argument is weak.

If you don't want your team to be in a play-in scenario don't be a bottom feeder.

You're not an MVP if you can't elevate your team past being in that situation. :unimpressed:

honestly dont see what the point of the play in games
it was cool last year, they shouldve left that in the bubble
Agree with this

Thought it was a mechanic for a sudden, abruptly shortened season leading into a bubble situation.
Having it grandfathered into "normal" NBA seasons is all of a sudden a pretty big alteration that I'm not sure was in dire need...

You're proving my point though. The play-in game concept in any sport (outside of amateur) is useless because of how long the season already is. If you can't make the playoffs during the regular season, then you don't deserve to get another shot at it.

The playoff cutoff is arbitrary anyway. You're making a terrible slippery slope argument.

Why even have a playoff if you played 82 games
Just do like soccer and give the championship to the team at the top of the table. They played enough games to determine who's the best team right?

There’s no slippery slope argument breh. You legit have people on this site complaining that there already too many games in an NBA season. Yet are perfectly fine with adding more games to the schedule

The play-in games would make more sense if the NBA season was reduced. It’s 72 games this year, but more than likely it’s going back to 82 games next season as no one wants to lose out of the missed revenue.

Nikka ain’t nobody rambling :mjlol:

Your arguments just don’t make any damn sense. Especially considering how people are in another thread complaining about the NBA seasons need to be shorter with less games.
You're arguing that the number of games means we don't need play in games because we know which teams are good.

By that standard we can also argue that we don't need 16 teams in the playoffs because over half of them don't have a legitimate shot at being champions. Hence the slippery slope because at what point are you deciding x amount of games means x amount of teams in the playoffs?

The only reason we have a playoffs is because it gives the fans more opportunities to root for their teams and players and a teams a chance to earn some extra money.
