I'm muscular/fit and keep myself in shape although I'm nowhere near where I want to be physically. I'm not a big dude at all. Since a few of my bosses learned of my gym habits, they've used the gym as a conversation opener (of course). Problem is, these particular bosses never discuss anything else.

Christmas party was last week at a restaurant. Everybody was drinking. As the night is coming to a close, one of the senior bosses says "man, you're in such good shape! your solid!, I feel like such a wimp around you" (while looking at my chest) This behavior is acceptable in the gym, not at dinner breh

Brehs this is a few things going on.

One, why do whites feel like they can only discuss this type of shyt with me? This is why I cant rock with this corporate shyt - we just dont relate to each other. They only wanna talk to me about the gym and sports.

i don't think it has to do with race or anything (but you never know). from your description, it seems more like the type of interactions where you see someone everyday and you want to do small talk but you're too lazy to actually get to know the person so instead you keep hanging on to something they mentioned once or something you once talked about. it becomes their convo hook with you. i guarantee you they do the same shyt with other people. probably a some white dude who the first time they did small talk with the guy mentioned he plays the guitar and does shows. and now whenever the boss sees him he talks about surface music stuff or guitar stuff or when is his next show.

i don't like when people do that but typically it has nothing to do with you and the thing you mentionned. it's mostly about them trying to feel like they "talk" to you. like they bond with you on that. and it's typically people who think they're above you and being nice to you. to him, you're the gym guy. someone else is the starwars guy. someone else is the football talk guy. and some other guy is the home renovation guy. and he always mentions the same thing to them as well. lazy bonding with employees.
