tribe- bonita applebum - wack as f*ck
self-destruction - west coast turned around and did it better
NWA - express yourself
public enemy - fight the power - by itself without without the audio/visuals from the video versions

You smokin' dust for all four of these... yikes!

Although the album version of Express Yourself is blah... that extra drumbeat and the whistle on the remix made that shyt dope.

OH and yeah, 'Slam' is another one of those I liked at the time but was done with by the time MTV got a hold of it. I was always more into 'Throw Ya Gunz'

I was never crazy about 'Insane In The Brain'... the video signaled the direction they were goin' in too.

Not sure if this counts, but 'Feel Me Flow' by Naughty... blah. Treach is rappin' his ass off on this song, but the beat and the hook? WEAK.

'Get Low'... played it a lot, but I've never listened to this song on purpose in the comfort of my own home.

I recently had to explain to somebody younger (who was tryin' to say 'y'all nikkas was bumpin' shyt like 'Baby Got Back') that 'Baby Got Back' has always been the turn-up jam for un-hip white folks... there was a GANG of better shyt out at the time, never liked it much.

I actually like this song for the most part....

BUT I was a little :dwillhuh:

on how hyped/anticipated the crowd wanted to hear the song in the last few Nas shows I went to in the mid/late 2000's and early 2010's.

You'd think it was Ether in the 2000's or Hate Me Now or how wild the crowd got when the beat dropped.

I wasn't a huge fan of this song when it came out:francis: Within the last 1-2 years I've started appreciating it:obama:

I went back and listened to this whole Onyx album like a week ago for the first time in a long time, this album has not held up well at all.

But at the time when this album came out, it was one of the most popular albums. Especially the single Slam

Their followup All We Got Iz Us is a much better album imo. It’s one of my favorite 90s hip hop albums but it’s not nearly as commercial as bacdafucup

Who Shot Ya is just alright to me, there's a ton of Biggie songs I like more.

I don't know if I've ever listened to Rappers Delight in full. Not that I dislike it, but I don't like it enough to sit through 14 minutes of it.

Man, I haven't listened to that one in a long time. I don't even remember more half the songs on that album.

It wasn’t a big hit like their first album. Just a bunch of dirty and grimy NYC hip hop

Yeah, from what I remember is the that album just didn't have the Slam type of single for the album.

Onyx was one of them groups where a person had to be there in that moment in time to know how popular they were at the time.

Ruff Ryders Anthem :francis:

That beat was so wack to me. Matter fact most of the shyt Swizz did back then was weak to me. His beats sounded lazy and untalented as hell. I could never understand what nikkas saw in him
:heh:

Money Cash Hoes :scusthov:

Jigga My nikka :scusthov:

matter fact the beat for Wildin Out by the Lox was just Jigga My nikka sped up backwards
