By the time statlanta dropped it was too late. Like dat was his only true single, it did too though.
He did some writing on Kush, which was a lightweight hit.
Didn't know he had anything to do with "Kush", so he did write a hit.
Jay did everything he possibly could to get Memphis to blowbut that one hit just never came.
Memph was a victim of having bigger artists on his singles. "Round Here" and "Is That Your Chick" were hits even if minor and "Is That Your Chick" is classic, but it's moreso a Jay Z song than a Memph song.
Yo he came to mind immediately. They wanted him to succeed so bad and he had technical skills but couldn't do shyt to write a song anyone wanted to listen to.
... I guess.Breh. They had to put those bigger artists on there because Memph couldn’t pop on his own, even with the Jay co sign. Hell, Jay had to put Dear Summer on a Memph Bleek project in order to help him move units.
Creating a commercial hit isn't easy, involves a lot of politics and a lot aren't even going for that lane. Then, you have those that had a hit, and their career still never took off. And most rap hits has features. That's just the way it is, so you can't disqualify them

I get the idea of the thread but I need more clarity.. mainly cuz the Fab thing threw me off
I didn’t know we discrediting hits if they had features on it. Some of these features ppl had were simply hooks which means it’s possible the main artist on the song wrote it and just had whoever featured sing it or something
