Its not the overall party's fault Hillary was such an unlikable candidate. Her and Trump being disgusting kept the turn out to about 50% vs. the 63% & 61% that came out for Obama's two wins. If Hillary could have just gotten at least 1% of the people who stayed home to vote, she would have won, but she couldn't even do that. I think even Biden or Bernie would have brought out 55% of the eligible voters.

Tim Ryan sounded like he wants to adopt Bill Clinton's 90s strategy with respect to the white vote. He is complaining about identity politics as much as a Fox News host. I am not surprised he would be struggling to thread that needle and also pretend to care about social justice issues. When he assumes Dems can do both he knows very well how the hierarchy of interests will shape out when it is this so called economic populism vs the issues he thinks Democrats are wasting time on.
