The Hit-Boy comparisons are missing the point. Nas wasn't looking to replicate the style/switches/etc. he did with Hit-Boy. He clearly wanted to go in a different direction. It seems like Premo intentionally let the lyrics breathe or Nas picked those beats for that reason.

Joe Budden said it best years ago... Nas is the most overly critiqued rapper of all time.

Listened late night and early morning today. Fukkin with it :ahh: . Sure it’s not preme’s best work but I like the vibe overall and it’s a nice change from the hitboy stuff (especially the last few albums). Also now that we got this album, nas and az may as well get in the studio for an album cause it’s always magic together:ohlawd:

Sounds like you're describing Life Is Good which he already did...

Dude said earlier in the thread he ain't listened to a Nas album since KD1 and now he pretending to know all the topics discussed in the series :mjlol:

He talked about his childhood, current life, politics, social commentary, history, religion, relationships, being a parent, past present and future of hip hop culture, philosophy, business shyt, street shyt, fly shyt, uplifting topics, storytelling, concept tracks, probably more on those albums. Subject matter literally the dumbest criticism you can make about Nas. No rapper with his level of reach and success consistently speak on a wider range of topics.

Breh those are generic surface level raps. Let us in where real dialogue could be had. But do it in a dope way
What you want to know about this nikka coffee dates,or what he text a female when he trying to get in her panties. Or maybe what mood he's in when he's buying a girl a gift my god :dame:

I’m glad Nas is gonna place his passion for other ventures over hip hop because the art form is no longer appreciated or valued. I’m happy he made this year all about the culture, legacy and art but when you love the art form more than the people you do it for, I would say it’s time to focus on other ventures you’re passionate about and let hip hop rest.
Or… if you clearly love the art as much as he does, keep doing what you do because you do it at such a high level and you keep the art alive. He’s dealt with the hate for years, but his love for the art, and the love he gets seem to be worth it for him.

Or you can be salty that you won’t be for everybody and take your ball and go home, like you’re saying he should. But thankfully I don’t think he’ll stop because of feeling underappreciated.

Agreed every album he addresses his mental. That's why I don't trip if he does promo or interviews because it usually comes out in the music or from his associates anyways

God's Son is another example of him getting very personal other than LiG but every album has it... Parts of Streets Disciple were weirdly personal at times lol

The Magic albums were more lyrical-exercise type joints

I'm torn on NYSOM 3. I really love the beat and it made me feel similar to how I did when listened to the original the the first time. It took me back to when I was a kid hanging out on Rockaway Blvd on a cold winter day. But at the same time, having the Billy Joel piano playing over the original Nas nysom and not using that as the beat for the entire song seems like a huge missed opportunity
