After two listens, this didn't meet my expectations but it's still good, maybe even very good.

I gave the album a 2nd listen

I liked Preem's beats better when I circled back

The album does have a cohesiveness and is not all over the place

On 2nd listen, Nasty Esco Nasir and Madman stood out...and I already thought Pause Tapes, Git Up, Shine Together and Junkie were the stand outs

I change my rating to 8.5 (9 for Nas, 8 for Preem)

I'm not that mad at the production, but as an engineer, i think mix wise it could be a little better, feels a bit cheap.

I did my own unofficial remixed version of "My Tapes" so i can bump in my ride, cause that was my favorite off the album and wasnt knocking enough, leaving the link here in case anyone feels like checking it out: Nas - Pause Tapes

Yeaaa definitely. I think it can benefit ALOT from that. Im in a weird spot cause I really like the album and think it’s dope but I’m also kinda mad at the album. shyt is weird. lol.

Oh boy. I’m on here late as hell so I get to work backwards in this thread to gauge reactions. I already saw how folks on X are feeling

First listen I like I like the album. Didn’t think Preemo had the hottest beats but I get the minimalist “ode to Hip Hop” feel and sound him and Nas were going for. I do kinda agree with those saying the second half is the strongest. Almost like we heard some of the type of beats we expected to hear, just wish there was more of that

Very solid 4 maybe 4.5 but I gotta run it back a couple more times. All the “Nas needs Hit-Boy back” chatter tho Is that more from newer Nas fans?
