But we know for a fact Nas isn't about just rapping over the "best" beats. He likes what he likes.

Exactly. I respect people not liking this for whatever reason but do yall really think Nas is sitting there begging for preme’s scraps after his historic run with Hit?!?! Nas literally can go in the vault or tell him to make something new from scratch. You can tell they took the time to make an album that “they loved” cause it was rumored to come out last december so ill accept the product they put out.

Crazy thing is that if you make a playlist of all of his Legend has it features plus this he gave us a double album with hip hop and commercial tracks

Light years sounds like a love letter to hip hop. With Magic 3, I mentioned the similarities, I found with that album and the movie Fresh yet similarly here, the feeling is reminiscent of the Sinners movie scene where they conjured up the greats from the past and present in musical form. Its the best way, I can describe this album.. Premo is the conductor, while also adding onto that fresh but somber vibe Nas created with Hit. Album seems like a big FUKK YOU to the people hating on classic hip hop culture as a whole. Kind of like Nas saying "watch me bring back pause tapes and gumbys nikka". There's joints on here, I could see Hit doing which kind of brings it back to the theme of them time travelling. In all it feels therapeutic for the culture.

I just went through the last ten pages or so. I should have known. I should have known some of you were going to say stupid shyt about this album. :hhh:

It's too early for comparisons to the Hit-Boy albums, but this is exactly what you would want from Nas and Premier. They weren't going for hits, weren't trying to cater to anyone except hip hop heads. I can see it won't be for everyone, but it doesn't matter. Do you not hear how dirty NYSOM III sounds? Off the first listen, this sounds like a 70s/80s tribute. The kind of album that Nas and Premier probably grew up listening to. This is hardcore hip hop heaven, but people are acting like Premier had trash production?

I'm glad I listened to the album first, then came here. You guys don't deserve a damn thing. :camby:

I know some of you woke up today like it was Christmas morning, I am like seven hours into the day and I’m just now realizing this album is

This post above looks like major cope but I will assess further

Maybe Nas finally has enough in the bad to surpass 2Pac’s posthumous catalog :troll:

Man, see if premo followed the formula of "writers" and "sons", we could have had a classic here.

Let's not act like there wasn't a small handful of classic tracks on here still.

I think it’s 3-3.5 stars. It’s not a bad album but I’m not bumping this nonstop for the next couple of weeks either.
Agreed. None of these songs or lyrics are all that memorable imo, and the beats leave much to be desired. Nasir fed us well over the past 5 years, so all is well.
