U don’t gotta explain shyt to that bytch ass nikka. He said Nas ain’t top 5 no more at rapping and he mad cause I called him out about this album being more lyrical than GNX. lol.

Nah nikka u a hoe. U can criticize me and my rapping or whatever u wanna do. U still a hoe and u still a punk. U p*ssy and u a dikkrider. Ya mans was rappin some bullshyt on GNX get over it.

According to Nas stans every album he drops is a 10/10. It's ok to admit something is 6 or a 7. Calling every Nas album a masterpiece only makes you guys look foolish. At best this is a 3.5 mic album to me. Maybe 3. There's like 3-4 very good beats on here. With the rest ranging from terrible to average. Nas is still very sharp with the flow but he's also repeating a lot of the same shyt he's said on his past 5 albums. So that also takes some points off. Once you start calling yourself the crypto currency Scarface it's probably time to fallback for a while and challenge yourself to write something with a little more substance. Nas has also been writing for so long it's probably not easy to come up with new ideas. So I get it. But a spade is still a spade.
Nas is similar to guys like common and ghostface now. All these guys are in my personal top 5 but they're also not elite with the pen anymore and I can admit that. Just like rza is my GOAT producer and I can admit he's absolutely garbage now. All these guys found their comfort zone and they're sticking to it. Every song is just a complete rehash of something they already made or something they already said. But they're all in their 50's now. They don't need to be elite anymore. Them still being very good and making decent albums is the best you could hope for at this stage of their careers. But I'm also not going to grade them on a curve because of who they are. Cause that would only degrade the artform. There's a standard of hip hop greatness and that bar shouldn't ever be lowered. Not even for the legends.
Hmmm this is interesting.Man I was just watching the Joe budden podcast
He said he was disappointed by the Nas and AZ track because he heard another version or demo way before and he said the beat was fire - if you listened to the song they rapping but you can tell they was rapping to something else … kinda like a dj take a instrumental and acapella from one song and beat from another and mix em
Maybe that’s what happened on some of these , I wonder how much shyt was changed
I refuse to believe Preem sat down and did my life is real or NYSOM3 - maybe something happened with the samples or something

Yeah, when he said Kendrick is a better songwriter than prime Nas, I thought my jaw was about to come off.
He heard "cryptocurrency Scarface" and it triggered him into thinking Nas isn't rapping about anything anymore.![]()
Kendrick is a better songwriter than Nas ever was. By miles. The only rappers who can compare to Kendrick in that department are Pac, Big, and Jay. And even those guys don't have Kendricks versatility with the pen. Nas was never in that category as a song writer. I don't know why you guys pretend that he was. I have Nas ahead of Jay all time but he could never construct a song like hov.

Halfway through, this is gonna be a divisive album…hmmm…
Stop even talking to that stupid nikka man. lol. These nikkas are mentally ill. What is your criteria for a great hip hop song? If you're talking about making hits, that's an entirely different thing.
Are "N.Y. State of Mind," "One Love," "I Gave You Power," "Street Dreams," "Nas is Like," "Hate Me Now," "Undying Love," etc. not examples of elite songwriting? Nas has talked about damn near everything in music, rapped from multiple different perspectives. He rapped a two-part song as a woman. How is not that a sign of versatility?![]()

It’s at least an aspect of good songwriting. Ask any songwriter what the hardest thing to do is and almost every one will agree that it’s to craft a hit. These are commercially released albums not SoundCloud uploads.
Let’s not pretend Nas is Prince here either releasing album after album of wildly experimental songs that don’t even have a potential radio song. He has collabs with an extremely long list of commercially viable singers, rappers and producers where he is clearly trying to make a hit.
You know Nas rapped as a gun right …Kendrick is a better songwriter than Nas ever was. By miles. The only rappers who can compare to Kendrick in that department are Pac, Big, and Jay.
