I wasn’t expecting a Nas is Like. I already said I love 13 of the 17 other beats Primo made in 2025 for De La, Roc Marci, and Ransom.

Certainly I wasn't being unrealistic to expect something on the level that Primo already did 3x this year?

Nah man this stuff isn't hip hop. Doesn't count.

:dead:

BTW listening to a bit of that Ran snippets right now...you can hear the sample packs and live band replaying other samples.

I still liked the execution better on the Ran project. BTW someone was saying some rumors that Primo either owes some money for samples, or is tighter on money and can't sample as freely as before. Which would explain a lot.

BTW I sound like I dislike the album more than I do. I've complained about the beats in 75% of my posts in here the past few days, but I really do like the overall product fine. I'm definitely disappointed though.

Sure but the beats here also design to be throwback in places. Which is probably throwing people off and feeling safe and dated . Producing ain’t just “let me give Nas the same as Roc from the beat tape ” it’s about that’s the theme of it. Not saying you gotta like it just saying there’s a choice in direction.

Anyway I also think there’s enough beats to make a solid EP out of this like those others with that would get the same reaction

This is my take. Someone called me out for bashing the project earlier in the thread when I said this is an album that people will go back and fukk wit more as time passes. But Ive said from the beginning this album is like a 7.5-8 out of 10 for me.

Nah I knew he was gonna be hard on this album cause while Nas is clearly his fav rapper he been extra critical of Premo for a while now. This whole year damn near he been shytting on Premo production outside of De La album.

Coop the same way.
That’s also kinda unfortunate cause it feels like they’re coming with I told you so narrative and it’s like both him and Nas made a choice on the direction sonically. And either way people who like to blame or the other gonna get their agendas off

Joe Budden interview is exactly what real ones been saying all along.

This album was purposely made the way it was.

Its for the day ones meaning the ones who really lived this hip hop shyt. 90% in this thread didn't. Yall didn't make beats in the lunch room or on your desk in class in 1992. This a true old head album

That simple hollow unmastered sound with the baseline. THAT WAS HIPHOP. This thread really showing who from the culture and who aint.

Perfect example, this old head who hated on a lot of the Hitboy shyt, loves the album and loves the job Preme did lol.

I know what it's supposed to sound like it but it doesn't mean they did it to the full potential. There's few things that knock as much as Group Home or Sun Rises to the East or Hard to Earn even though that was the vibe they were going for.

I used to help sequence Little Brother/Justus League albums and worked in a studio for years. I know that producing isn't just about giving someone beats that you like. I’m not stupid. . I'm saying that I'm let down by the direction that they chose. It's okay. They didn't owe me anything on this, and I'm glad they made what they wanted to make. But sample feee and sample pack Primo on the more extremely stripped down tip without a lot of the more musical samples and the diced up chop rearrange steez that he has done so well before with Nas was a let down for me.

I mean, obviously this was designed to sound like a throwback. I didn't expect they'd try and make it sound modern. That would've been crazy and way more people would've complained.

**In all honesty he should just link with TDE/PG Lang. There's obviously mutual respect there. Him and Kendrick got the same manager. And Nas got the money. Sounwave is prolly the best producer in the game right now.**

I was thinking the same. GnX was just laid out so dope man. Or spin back with Hit 1 more time. I wouldn't mind an EP with Alc

It seems like he did sample on here as others have come out and said (marco polo, Steve miller etc) but it looks like they just made a straight forward beat tape for Nas to go in on. The beats could have been more richer but they function
