My Pops Forever RIP
It's not bad at all. nikkaz talking about this album is bottom 4 Nas album hell nah imo. When I think terrible albums Nasir comes to mind. I do feel Preemo needed to step it up there's quite a few dope joints on here.. The Preemo slander is corny though
the issue isn't Nas' pen (whoever criticized him for talking about crypto and business like that's not his life right now, cmon),

Anyone who's criticizing Nas' subject matter proves Andre 3000's point.

Premo's beats sound like something he needed to cook up because he couldn't clear the samples, and anyone who has ever heard a beat that replaced another beat for that reason always comes off sounding second rate, like Premo's beats for Nas drowned in the RZA flood too

I like KD2 better than this album. I still can't decide if Light Years is better than the rest. KD3 is great, maybe that's on par with this one. This is definitely better than KD1

Magic 1 might be better but I don't adore it like everyone else...I also don't hate Magic 2 like everyone else, but it was the weaker one. Magic 3 is dope but kinda inconsistent

That said, Wave Gods is kinda what I was hoping for on this one and it's still better than this whole album lol
I think out of the last 5 years of releases, Magic maybe my favorite release which ironically, if I’m not mistaken, came out during this same time

I agree to an extent like some of these would be cool for a MC like Black Poet not Nas. I don't think there's anything on here Zone Out level terrible beat wise just bland :manny:

Magic imo is special
Facts, from the door. That's the closest to "Illmatic" we ever gonna get from Esco at this point in his life. I still think, as a whole body, I got KD2 ahead of it though. KD2 is such a big, heavy sounding album...that shoulda been the one they super pushed and went crazy for fr, that's a platinum-sounding album.

Good points but i’ll NEVER agree with the Magic 2 disrespect. Nas was rapping his ASS OFF on that project and I love how he and Hit Boy went with a more experimental take on the production.

Motion alone is in the top 5 songs of the Hit-Boy era.

I hate crypto and so on so I totally get your take (and Ring is a growing part of the surveillance state). That said, it doesn't bother me too much for some reason, I just take it as typical hip hop boasting which isn't my favorite element of rap even though it's a huge part of it.
Crypto is the present and future financial system. You better get with or get lost. As a matter of fact I would rather hear about crypto over drug talk and all the other bs some rappers talk about.

Word. He spoke on that before when they asked him about Da Youngstas and the line for "Mass Appeal".

He always said that as a deejay he remembers so many lines that they just come to him when he's thinking about scratches. He said sometimes the lines doesn't work and sometimes they work perfectly, lol. He's the best at that too. Dude finds lines that nobody would even think to use.
he's a connoisseur of music like many of us. I literally know hundreds of songs. I'm talking complete albums, because we come from the tape era where you couldn't just skip to your favorite song unless you had the cd or vinyl. Primo was always Guru's hype man so that means he knew all of the lyrics to the Gang Starr albums. He should since it takes hours to mix a song and listening to it over and over does that for you. My wife knows nothing about hip hop. She's from a little country ass town and wasn't exposed to the music like that growing up. She's 10 years younger than me at almost 40. When we are riding and listening to Rock the Bells radio, she's amazed that I know every song that's played(not the mainstream shyt like Nelly played on certain shows). But the shyt played on Rza, Torae, and shows like that, i basically know everything. We listened to albums in our day more than 2 weeks. I can effortlessly quote Eric B/Rakim and Public Enemy's, first 4 albums

After listening to this album for a few days now I think preemo’s production actually carries the album. Nas is still Nas basically the goat but the truth is deep down inside we still want the Uzi in the army jacket lining Nas.

Git Ready is dope but sadly those lines about crypto. I hate to say it but they’re kind of corny. Nysom 3 he starts rapping about ring cameras and boutique shopping. Nas is in a different place now and it should be applauded but it doesn’t necessarily make for the best music. Thankfully there’s some straight fire like pause tapes and my story your story on here.
Let Nas celebrate his success. It’s nothing wrong with that as long as it doesn’t become your identity. He is perfect balance of popping shi** from time to time but still being down to earth. I would rather hear about crypto than some drug, women etc… talk. If anything he is giving game because crypto isn’t going anywhere.

The Magic 2 hate is forced. Nas added some more bounce to the album and Nas fans went crazy as usual.

They botched then, because this would’ve been the best track on the project.

Everybody hated "Define My Name." There were people here scared to death that it would be on the album. It also wouldn't make sense to put a song that came out almost two years ago on this album.
