Truth.
It's funny that he mentioned Nice & Smooth because I just saw Smooth B last Friday, uptown. LOL!!
But Nas is right. Fake fans use sales and numbers today to validate their own arguments and opinions. But we never cared about sh*t like that when we copped albums, back in the day. I never knew how much Redman sold, or how much Tribe sold. I had
Stunts, Blunts & Hip Hop and
Death Certificate when I was a kid. Played those albums all day everyday, and never once had a talk about how much they sold or even cared.
I still don’t care about how much these classics sold. The music
itself is what matters. But if you're a weirdo who wants to make a dumb argument, you'll definitely go Google up some random first week numbers to back your trash ass opinions that nobody cares about, but you. But Nas and Premier are focused more legacy and doing music while they can, for their
actual fans. This isn't about numbers for them. It's about creating sh*t that'll live forever and giving that to the people who helped them get where they are today. None of these bums on here work at labels. Nobody should be talking about sales.
