NaS is going Indie but he still got major ties. Sony is still involved it's just now he will be getting way more paper per album. It's a smart move so now NaS doesn't even have to go Gold. If his album does 300k on Mass Appeal he will get more royalties. The fact the label venture is with Sony makes me think "The Lost Tapes 2" will mostly Sony Era tracks and not Def Jam. This means it could be a Double LP of unreleased NaS songs. I'm happy for him but he's still got one more "MAJOR" LP to give to Def Jam.

I thought that same thing about the Sony tracks. So are you saying that he may not be be able to use unreleased Def Jam tracks on this LT2?

I'm saying the Def Jam Era tracks will have to be a Def Jam Lost Tapes compilation. The new Lost Tapes will be all Sony Era (ILLmatic-Street's Disciple) which I'm cool with that cause that's where most of NaS best unreleased Jem's are.

The first release from the new label is expected this summer as an annual compilation album featuring Future, Pusha T, Mac Miller, A$AP Mob, and Nas himself, performing a cover of the 1994 Gang Starr single in which the company was named after.

so we're not gonna talk about the bolded :blessed:

Third verse of Hero is one of the best and realest verses you will here!

Still in musical prison, in jail for the flow...try telling Bob Dylan, Bruce, or Billy Joel they can't sing what's in their soul:ahh:

Ok, I can live with that too. I agree, he's got gems in the Sony vaults. Now, Nas had the Lost Tapes 2 in the can a few years ago with Def Jam. He said it was ready to go. After Nas's Def Jam contract expires, they could still release his unreleased work. If they did, I'd hope it would be the LT3. They own the masters. Lets say Nas's next album is another classic. They could capitalize off of the hype and release it. I wonder if Nas would have some say so in the timing of the project and the naming of it. I wonder how that's going to shake out.
