sales only matter to other artist breh, NOT NAS... dont you know that by now :mjlol:

why would nas release an album to SELL it? thats not the point of distributing an album to stores and asking people to pay a price to purchase it... come on, wheres the logic in that...

#nasstanlogic
Nas was not a superstar, nobody was expecting him to sale numbers it was the debut of a 20 year old it had little promotion and what do sales have to do with quality? I guess MC Hammer dropped the G.O.A.T. album, I guess all of Eminem's albums since '02 have been classic :camby:

i agree

why would any record label actually WANT an album to sell more units and MAKE money...

thats not why nas belongs to a major label right

nas only release music on a big label... becasue uhhhh .... uhhhhh REAL HIP-HOP... any money he makes is just a bonus

intilectual, you a fool for this one.
got us nas stans jumping up and down in here trying to come up with a response!!
:lolbron:

shyt is too funny!!!:mjlol:

but anyway, as a nas fan i don't feel the need to defend this album. all i gotta point to is the 'royal' treatment it has been receiving these past two months.
name me another hip hop album that got similar treatment for an anniversary?
just one!!

of course sells matters, but the critics were not that illmatic didn't sell, but that illmatic struggled to sell fast and that the hysteria behind the album didn't translated into huge sales. it wasn't a commercial succes at first, and that was very true. But Illmatic did managed to go gold eventually, and reached platinum status, even maybe it will reach double platinum. Albums like do or die or liquid swords went gold before illmatic and sold fast but to this day didn't go platinum, that's says a lot

No other album has gotten the media push this album has gotten with such meager results. I agree. The media (read as hipster cacs) loves illmatic. The people (read as nikkaz that buy albums) rejected naS deposit.

nah. it's not even the greatest debut from a queensbridge rapper. the realness is better.

I can't see how anyone can listen to both albums and objectively, say that The Realness is better (taking nothing away from 'Mega).
