Where people get bit on the ass in these debate is they always try to compare Lupe with past era greats like Nas, Jay, Cube.

I’m supposedly one of the biggest Lupe “stans” (B.S.) on here and I know that Lupe doesn’t have the immortalized catalog of a Cube, Nas, or Hov. It’s even arbitrary to compared him to acts like them or fukking Mobb Deep mostly cuz of the era disconnect or the sheer difference in content. But notice how they never compare Lupe as a rapper to his contemporaries of the 2000’s era. They gotta run behind certified top 5 level icons to say “such & such shyts on Lupe’s catalog” like yeah no shyt

Then I peep how these same few posters that are always in uproar when discussing Lupe’s status in the game are never to be found when someone says some outlandish shyt about J Cole having classic albums or Kendrick being top 10, top 5 all-time. You never find these same dudes typing up paragraphs in those thread. Only when it’s Lupe, now ain’t that shyt funny

Nas is extremely creative and his concepts often work. But sometimes they don't, and it results in puzzling concept records that are too on-the-nose and convoluted. That's...Lupe's entire career.

You can only pull off a twist, trick, or narrative concept a couple times before diminishing returns set in. I Gave You Power is classic. Project Roach...nah. Lupe has taken the "what if I rapped from the perspective of xyz" thing to legendary levels of corniness.

You are conflating the two lists.
The list of 58 is for rappers who are better than Lupe. Not those who have better catalogs.

I still haven’t made the list of 50 discographies, but there will be rappers on there who make better music and thus have better catalogs, even if they don’t rap as well as Lupe.

Big L and Ras Kass are better rappers than Lupe. I’d also take Big L’s catalog over Lupe. Soul on Ice > any Lupe album. I can see arguments that Lupe’s catalog is better than either of them though. :Peasy:
