We are the consumer's! He should listen to his audience..

You are a SMALL part of his audience. Nas has many fans all over the world. Its not like he’s crowd funding his albums on kickstarter. He can do whatever he wants and you can choose to either support or not support

But who’s saying they want him in one box though? And even if they did, if that’s what they like, there’s nothing wrong with that. They’re fans and they’re entitled to like a specific styling of an artist and not like others. The artist doesn’t have to follow along with it, but fans have the right to want a specific sound.
I just think if someone wants to hear a specific sound they should dig up that album.

I think you're both right. Fans have the right to their own expectations. And Nas has the right to do whatever he wants creatively.

Uh, what’s wrong with that? People aren’t just blindly gonna like anything Nas does just because he’s a legend. People have preferences on what they want him to sound like because they didn’t like his last two projects. That’s a very reasonable take.

No it's not a reasonable take..spare me
Any real Nas fan knows he's the only artist people do this stupid shyt with. ONLY ONE

It's basically people setting themselves up to be disappointed.

What other artist of Nas caliber are people so brazen giving directions to....it doesn't happen

Everybody has their own idea of the type of artist they want Nas to be. And they're beholden to that

Never mind at this point he's a veteran's VETERAN

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
One thing I will say is Nas gets this microscope and criticism I see NO other artist get. For instance. Pusha T, Benny or Westside Gunn could’ve gotten that Highly Favored beat off Lost Tapes 2 and people would’ve treated it like the greatest shyt ever. Nas gets it and people don’t blink an eye. Yet act like it’s HIS fault. Nas coulda took the whole Bandana album production and still got criticized for the production. nikka rapped over the Dilla shyt and got shytted on and criticized for that. I just don’t see other legends get this kind of microscope. And it’s been this way since 1996(with critics anyway).

Then when his core fans give him two thumbs down, hope he doesn't cry and go back into obscurity.

And you're also allowed to live in your one man planet.
I'm from Dallas. Dallas radio have never been much of a Nas market.
The last 6yrs he has come through the city 3x.
All sold out. Last year with Mary J. 18k strong

And Dallas is not his strong market. But he can still sell out a venue while not "popping"

No he's not and it is a reasonable take regardless of you being emotional about it or not. Nas can do what he wants, just like fans can ask for what they want. That's what life is about.

I don't like the beats on Nas last two albums all that much but I never subscribed to the "Nas can't pick dope beats" narrative that gets laid out. Nas has rapped over some of the best beats ever in his career.

Performing in show's is different to releasing subpar album's. Just saying.

I'm just not that confident in Hit-Boy producing a whole album.

He's great as that guy who laces an album with a two or three bangers. Not sure he's sonically interesting enough to carry a whole album. His slower tracks ain't really impressing me.

People bringing up that Chauncey Hollis album and it's solid but half the beats sound like d-grade Madlib beats. Hopefully Hit Boy gives Nas his premium shyt.

Or Hit-Boy only does a few beats and they bring some other producers in.

I feel Nas really has to come correct with this one. I like Nasir and LT2 more than most but if this doesn't hit then that'll be a decade run of mixed received albums.

:mjlol: shyt doesnt sound anything like Madlib, A thru Z grade.

Hit is dope in his own right

I just think if someone wants to hear a specific sound they should dig up that album.

Exactly, for example Nas will never be in or sound like It Was Written/Esco mode again. He was a different man then, different era, less experiences. Only way we get that is through unreleased shyt.
