I have no problem with the idea of Nas working with Pete Rock/Large Pro/etc again, especially if they have good beats that sound timeless (Pete Rock has heat right now, for instance)...but I can't imagine wanting a Nas album exclusively with them in 2020. That era is over.

Do I wish Nas worked with Premo/Pete Rock/etc more from 96-01? Of course. We got quite a few Premo joints but man I wish we had more because...everything they did was classic. But it's 2020. None of them are making top tier beats right now. Doesn't mean I don't want to hear Nas rapping over Premo again but let's be real about the situation.

fukk the critcs breh. It's Nas the greatest of them all. You are the only Nas fan on here that i've noticed who's always obsessed with critics. WHO CARES. Nas is gonna have his naysayers no matter what he does. Dude in here is asking for a Nas album produced by Pete Rock :dead: some people gonna be unhappy regardless. Gotta ignore it.

People shytting on LT2. When that was a great project. With Nas I just think it’s fun to hate and over critique his music. People saying Ross should EP a Nas album for the past 8 years when LIG sounds like Ross EP it.

This new shyt could be fire and people will still hate.

Why should he?

He’s been there and done that.

People have to remember that a lot of these producers weren’t very supportive of Nas after Illmatic dropped. Pete Rock shytted on It Was Written because he was mad Nas didn’t choose any beats from him. Q-Tip told the Trackmasters “You’re ruining his career” when he heard If I Ruled The World. Large Professor said he felt a type of way about Nas ascending as an artist while he was in danger of being dropped.

Only LES and Premo kept their fukking mouths shut and never had no slick shyt to say about Nas post IWW. Why would Nas rush to work with these people who were literally AGAINST him utilizing his talent and platform to its fullest potential?

Besides that. An underrated aspect of Nas’s career and longevity has been his willingness to reinvent and experiment. Illmatic sounds nothing like It Was Written which sounds nothing like I am. Which sounds nothing like Nastradamus. Which sounds nothing like Stillmatic and so on and so forth. Even when he’s dabbled in working with Illmatic producers, American Way sounds nothing like One Love. Second Childhood sounds nothing like Memory Lane. Money Over Bullshyt sounds nothing like Life’s A bytch. The Art Of It sounds nothing like The World Is Yours.

If Nas continued to work with the same producers for his entire career he’d be Jeru The Damaja.

True. Nas faces a catch-22 with a lot of producers tbh. If he only works with his old producers people say his sound is not evolving. If he only works with trap producers people say he's trying to rhyme over production that's not for him. Hit Boy seems like a good fit to do a project with because he can bring him some versatility to the table.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Somewhere In America is literally the ONLY song on MCHG that I liked. If Nas rapping over beats like that then we’re in for a treat.

All I need is the preorder link. I might even in go ahead and get a physical CD too. I haven’t purchased a physical CD since Untitled Unmastered in 2016
I’m only coppin vinyl and digital from here on out.

Dog this has Nas written all over it
Wish he had this beat from him.
Just listening to the whole The Chauncey Hollis Project album... wow if he gave Nas beats like this or even every beat on here for Nas - we could have something special. Hitboy is versatile enough for Nas to sound fresh, but not too out there where Nas sounds out of his comfort zone (Kanye)... The restrained craftmanship of Hit-Boy is his greatest asset and could suit Nas really well.

Dr. Dre involved here as well? Maybe mixing the album?
