Ultra Black sounds a lot better as an album cut than a single, I need to apologize for calling it mediocre. Or is the beat harder on the album version? :leostare:

Still stand by the fact that Dave’s Black and Carters Black effect, two of my favs of the previous years, made me appreciate it less than I would if they weren’t made.

After listening all day yesterday its scary how good Nasir still is. He literally sounds like It was Written Nas. Thank God the Godson has maintained his lyrical fitness.

In this age of garbage rappers mostly outside the city of Houston, its amazing to hear a great rapper spit MEANINGFUL bars over dope production.

Perhaps Hiphop may live into the new Milleneum afterall. Thank you Nasir for breathing life into this dying artform. Perhaps we can stave off the cacs just yet...::mad:

Fairly soon, with the nikkas dressing and acting like women, the biggest rap stars will all be white soon....(MGK, Logic, The fakkit from jersey, etc...)

Much like Drogas Wave, its kind of a shame this album is independent cause theres some tracks that I would love to get radio airplay like the Paak joint
Radio is played out but I’d like to see front page promo on Spotify and these young rappers putting this shyt on their shyt and teaching the new gen about the next level. For example young J Cole stans who don’t know that there’s another level to this shyt. Now I’m not saying that this is peak Nas, far from, but the peaks are godly. :wow:

I made the fade famous, the chain famous
QB on my chest match the stainless

Amazing Grace, I'm gracefully aging
Without masonry, I made more paper to play with
No rap in my playlist, sold dimes on my day shift (King)
So, can I breathe? Can I walk? Can I speak? Can I talk?
Can I floss without you wanting me outlined in chalk?

Family gossiping, pocket watching him
Jealousy keeps blossoming, ain't let it box me in (King)
'Cause you are not a king if you can't come out a thing
That you got yourself in, claiming nobody helping
The stupidest part of Africa produced Blacks that started algebra
Proof, facts, imagine if you knew that as a child, bruh

Nostalgia, how I remembеr things
Remember crowns, remember, kings
They want your reign to cease (King)
You a king, you will be next to me, doing your own king shyt, most definitely
We're so "Say less when I speak", y'all estrogen speak
Respected by kings only, address me as chief

Invested in things only a vet would
Only lames front on kings, that's expected from creeps
You mad at my nikkas and any woman with any interest in me
You could've made it (You was good), look at all the time wasted
Now you gotta retract statements, shoulda stuck to the basics

All you had to do was tell the truth, like, fukk all the fake shyt
You should want every brother to make it out
But brothers want trophies, they troll for clout
Rap is weird, weird flex, but okay
You ain't as ill as you think, you just okay

You got pressed in the hood, fix your jibs up, I'm on top
Stop fighting it, yo, stop with the over-righteousness
It's so lame, this media circus greedy and worthless
My life got 'em tight, why they wanna see me hurt up? (Why me?)
Real kings everywhere, stand up
It come with the game (King’s Disease)

That intro track is just absurd. How can anyone deny this guy is the GOAT at this point. It's like trying to argue against Michael Jordan, Usain Bolt, Wayne Gretzky.

Nas is in like his 4th or 5th prime still dropping the dopest verses in 2020. 30 YEARS after live at the barbeque! He's straight up embarassing his competition at this point.

Honestly i’m doubting Premo could have done a better job than Hit Boy at this juncture.

Premo has a signature sound, and its a very DOPE sound. But Hit Boy went ALL out for this album. No song sonically sounds the same, there are so many layers to the production that it honestly doesn’t FEEL like one producer did this.

Producers like Hit Boy, early RZA, No ID, Salaam Remi, Pre-“crazy” Kanye, and Timbaland could make whole albums that sound cohesive but still had a variety of different sounds. I feel like not only did Nas make the right choice by going with Hit Boy, he made an INSPIRED choice.

You gotta give it up to Nas for having the foresight to seek out Hit Boy and Hit Boy for MORE than rising to the occasion. This is a beautiful set up for Nas’s future as an artist with Mass Appeal. I hope Nas continues to be bold and inspired in his musical endeavors for years to come. I’m glad he never bowed to any public pressure and forced out any old album with AZ or Premo just to appease backpackers who couldn’t let go of 1994. Doing it HIS way got us a fukking incredible Firm Reunion in 2020 that sounds like they never dismantled. It got us features and collabs that we never even considered could be dope. It got us modern production paired with a flow that sounds like it was steeped in the fountain of youth.

No one could have done this album better than Hit Boy and Nasir in 2020. NO ONE

No disrespect to Premo he’s in my top 5 and a legend but the easiest way to settle this for me...I already know exactly how a Nas Premo album would sound in 2020, and frankly I’m not interested. I know how virtually every beat is gonna sound, how every chorus will sound, and none of the beats would be on par with Nas Is Like or the other classic tracks they did...

Premo has kinda been making the same beat over and over since the last (living) Gangstarr album dropped in 2003. Skillz was one of the last Premo beats I remember having a different/interesting sound. Ever since that album we’ve been getting that generic Premo Banger sound.

Now if they had done this long ago sure I’d be hyped. 2003/2004 era would have made sense. Imagine if after God’s Son, Nas said ok I need a street album to get everything off my chest. Perfect time for that. Now? Nah. I’ve heard Premo say he has a specific plan for a new Nas album but meh. I just don’t buy it.

Hiphop has been thriving since the millennium. We are 2 decades in, there's classics upon classics withing the genre. It's not dying. Also don't agree that the biggest rap stars will all be white soon. I don't see that at all. There's plenty of black rap stars. Logic retired and MGK is no where near a big rap star.

Rap/RnB album of the year, not even close. Disgusting that dudes nearly 50 and moonwalking past people like this:mjlol:

Uzi only one close but such a different genre that I don’t even wanna put them in the same sentence.

Kendrick, Drake or whoever gonna have to come super correct to push this of the pedestal.

For some reason I’d want a Drake feature or some shyt as a bonus track just to make it sell cause if these fools don’t give him the rap album of the year at the Grammy’s. Dudes are not supposed to spit like this 26 years after their first classic. Nas and his man in Brooklyn are not human :gucci:

I love the album. But I love Nas getting his sole shine and praise like he should on release day. He literally chills and minds his business and yet Nikki, Kelis, and Jay tried to play him to left like he wasn’t always that Man and downplay his legacy. It felt even better that Jay got no shine yesterday. Hot interview was good although I didn’t want to give Ebro a click. I’m glad he continues to pay The Breakfast Club dust with no interviews. They don’t deserve him at this point. Cheers to a great release King. I even opened a fresh bottle of Pure White to celebrate just as do anytime I head to a Nas live show.
