I personally think whoever thinks nas don’t pick the greatest beats it’s not cuz he don’t know but he likes to go against the grain instead of doing what everyone would do. shyt like that is why rappers fans lose interest to begin with. 50 don’t pick wack beats. Ross don’t... T.I. don’t.

somehow everyone still check for the man that supposedly don’t make wack beats though. No matter what, dude has done something smart with how he managed his career. It’s like that one twitter post up above, always these underground ass dudes that can’t make a album to save there life that talk the most.

Nas is my second favorite rapper but I don’t understand why he won’t rhyme over more drum breaks the sample or music wouldn’t even matter ...he is undefeated on drum breaks .

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
shyt like this would make me shyt on Nas and big up Hov more. Just to piss off the stans. So emotional smh

9th didnt create the narrative.
Damn sure did. Everything before that was about him ""selling out" and going commercial. Nas' first album that wasnt received well was honestly Nastradamus. Cause the streets fukked with both IWW and I Am. Especially I Am bootleg. But even the retail version of I Am got 4.5 mics in The Source. No one complained about the beats on Stillmatic, Lost Tapes, OR God's Son in that album stretch. Nas had the streets on lock in that time frame. 9th Wonder remixes God's Son and says " I just wanted to hear Nas on good beats again..." and the fukkin internet ran with it till the shyt became a narrative.

9th has turned into a Nas hater...lol

Its all good tho. It doesnt shock me his comrades be saying little stuff to.

9th never been good to me. Little Brother was boring. Gods Step Son was highly overrated.. Rapsody shyt sucks too
What did 9tth say? He was hatin? Little Brother was dope. God’s Stepson wasn’t better than the original.

Yeah thats where it started and then on the next album the beats thing came up even though I felt SD was an extended verson of God Son sonically in some ways and there started to be this re-evaluation of things with the beats on all his albums.
Life is Good is when he put that shyt to rest but then the year after that dropped Vlad started this campaign and so people who skim or dont listen to Nas albums at all or often thought maybe he was right.
Im sure even right now despite people loving the production on King's Disease if a blogger or someone influential type underground producer starts a narrative the same people saying they like the beats now will flip later

Hip hop purists didn’t complain about IWW’s beats? Come on man. Go listen to the drums on that album, specifically the Trackmasters ones. They hated on the lack of boom bap shyt. 9th may have revived the criticism in a noticeable way but he didn’t create it.

There's a difference between the "Nas went commercial" and the "Nas picks bad beats" argument. You're conflating the two (the backpackers that didn't like the direction Nas went with IWW and the people that say Nas has a bad ear for beats).

Hiphop purists didn't say those beats were wack, they just said they were "glossy" compared to Illmatic's beats. The streets in real time definitely didn't say those beats were wack.

I meant it jokingly but how emotional some nas stans are reacting to nikkas opinions isnt as feminine lol?

The narrative that he picks bad beats is bullshyt.

Is there another nas being credited for the classic albums n records?

The dude can literally go dope song for dope song with any rapper that ever picked up a mic

The math don't add up.

Btw this big pooh guy that's running his mouth, if nas did a verzuz against him with his worst three albums, is he winning a round?

So why shouldn't nas fans be frustrated. The shyt some people are saying just doesn't match with reality

dikkhead Vlad has successfully cemented that shyt in people's brain with his bullhorn
