This beat is butter.. Just gave it the whip test and it passed with flying colors.. The original is crazy and this one is crazy too.
Hit-Boy put a smoother spin on this version and I love it! If he's releasing a new album soon he should of went with this as the first single.

A lot of that is also because of the way people speed up samples. Nowadays, every program lets you easily time and pitch shift separately, but both methods distort the fukk out of the audio when they're done seperately and result in that thin quality. People use that liberally when the pitch is supposed to naturally bend when you manipulate a soundwave. That's why those seperate pitch shifts are usually only applied to vocals since the effects aren't as noticable.

When I sample stuff in FL Studio, I manipulate the pitch the way it's supposed to be done by slowing down or speeding up the audio and living with whatever pitch I get at the tempo I desire, usually chopping up a sample enough that I can get it to match the tempo I want if I want it a lil faster since usually if the speed of the chops is a little bit slower than the tempo, you can get away with cutting off a little bit of the sample (or you can just go for that stuttery Dilla style rhythm that's heavy in space if the pitch you want comes at a speed faster than the tempo). There's an subtle art to it that saves the sound quality when you're willing to pay attention to detail.

Madlib is one of the few producers right now who still puts out authentic music

They really not gonna release this on Apple Music? :martin:

It was literally Spotify's idea to re do the song. obviously someone there is a Nas fan and thought it would be a dope idea. it will find it's way to apple etc eventually, if it ever ends up on an album. otherwise I guess it stays as a "Spotify Single" which is apparently a thing :yeshrug:

It was literally Carl Chery’s idea and he’s been trying to get Nas to remake the song for a few years.

Here is what I am wondering: How does the relative success and hype of this new version of Life is Like a Dice Game, impact future LT volumes?
everything matters it's all data and can be used to gauge interest to do more things like this. If you download the song and listen to it offline only then they can't get that data.

you can still download the song and stream it as well. but you can't say you want MORE of this and that from an artist then refuse to facilitate that by showing support in streaming. song was made for a playlist. if it's successfully engaging then more incentives like this would proceed logically.

older music audiences are the stiffest and most stubborn when it comes to understanding the new game. if you don't show up for the artist don't keep demanding product or expecting it.

Nas work with hitboy for a reason and is aware of the stuck in the 90's crowd hence the song reference. But you can't cater to people that don't show up when it's time to support. People want that Preemo album but if it drop you would see a ton of old heads asking for links. Every time one of these veteran rappers drop you got a bunch of people in the thread who don't even know how to stream music.

folks are gonna say "I've been waiting 10 years :damn: get that preemo joint and throw it on a drive and watch it free fall of the charts cuz shyt ain't streaming. that's why that man made a relevant album that streamed well and won grammies, chose that over pleasing nostalgia addicts.

Nobody’s going with a 30 year old previously LEAKED song as their first single unless it was for a Lost Tapes installment
