The muddy sound does add to the dopeness, but that's not why I don't like, the beat itself its just too stiff, that that beat slapped on the original, head nodding shyt, the new beat is stiff, and it don't have voice in the background which was the dopest part of the damn beat

Yeah, that too. I wonder if this was a clearance issue or just them trying to add their own spin to it.

Might even be unfair to compare the two. I think it's dope just for the fact of Nas acknowledging a track from his of yesteryear that not many people outside of hardcore Nas fans even know about. And it happens to be one of my favorite Nas tracks. Always reminds me of Thanksgiving time.

I’m so mad I don’t even wanna listen to the rest of the song. I’ll get over it and try again later.

They all did great (coli said Cordae was trash:mjpls:), but Nas still had the best verse:manny: .

And its proven once again that this type of production will always reign supreme. Its refreshing not to hear a trap hi-hat :ahh: (Gibbs sounded refreshed on this)

the OG/goat Norman Connors :myman:

Cordae and Gibbs were dope but when Nas uses that It Was Written era flow he's unstoppable. Wish he would use that more often.

He took 7 years off between 12-18. I think he’s charged up and he’s released a project per year since Nasir. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he runs it back with a new studio album this year or Lost Tapes 3

Since he's going back and giving us what we've been asking for:mjgrin:...

The old track is way better, the pocket on the beat got more swing, it don't got the voice in the beat, it just sound sterile, no soul

I'ma be honest, people have forgot how to make hip hop

That's my issue with Hit Boy. His beats always sound sterile and I heard it immediately. After playing the original it clearly has more soul, swing, and the drums knock harder. The guitar riff is mixed too low and he added some sounds that drowned it out. There's more space in the Easy Moe Bee version. Hit Boy added more but did less.

Still a nice job though and I'm happy they brought it back.

From Nas subreddit :
7 tracks are recorded and done. Guru is even on 1 track.

It’s Dj Mike Nice here. Premier mentioned it. The Guru verse was recorded during the Ownerz sessions

A lot of these joints were recorded years back Remember Scratch Magazine Hyped it

Schedule difficulty is what’s delayed project.

Doubt this will drop this year when I spoke to Preem he mentioned his year was full and he wasn’t taking on any more projects

Hitboy didn’t add enough swing to it. Track overall still dope tho.
