They're about to give Nas this Grammy on some retroactive shyt because they missed him like 2 or 3 other times when he clearly should have got it. This is like them giving Denzel the award for "Training Day", which was fire but I think was more so because they fronted on him for so long, it was long overdue. Same with Nas here.

If I Ruled The World deserved it.

But we know the album is the category that matters most that’s what we’ve been talking about the albums category to which Nas never deserved to win.

No, he didn’t deserve to win over Take Care. The same reasons you gave for Wayne winning apply to Drake. Take Care is a juggernaut of an album littered with classic tracks that has charted for over 400 weeks, jump started careers, and was just an absolute moment.

It’s just that the you type of nikkas could never have a person like Drake win over Nas. Drake is the antithesis of hip hop to you nikkas.
Life is Good is an album I like more than Take Care, but Take Care is the album that gets the Grammy. I'm with you there. It was a huge album. No matter what myself or anyone thinks, an album having significant cultural impact does matter when it comes to winning that award. Take Care was definitely an event album, and those event type albums will always beat just "great music albums" at the Grammy's.

Yes because Hip Hop has never been obsessed with mainstream credibility to now, for something to be hot in the streets was valued much more.
U can be credible in the mainstream and credible in the streets. In his prime Nas was both.

Lil Baby is the hottest in the streets and among the hottest in the mainstream.

Royce 5’9 isn’t hot in the streets or mainstream he’s hot on the internet among a niche supportive fan base.

Cultural impact does not matter when winning a Grammy. OutKast is my favorite group and Speakerboxxx/Love Below won Rap albun of the year over Get Rich Or Die Tryin'. I think Speakerboxxx/Love Below is the better album and outside of some of the songs on the first half of GRODT, I've never liked that album, but it had massive cultural impact.

There’s precedent and narrative for a lot artists (especially BLACK artists) to get awarded long past their due points but lets not be disingenuous like King’s Disease isn’t a great album in its own right, we’re not talking about Nastradamus here. Its also an achievement for Nas in many ways as its the album that made him the FIRST rapper to chart within the top 5 in three different decades. So there’s a lot of history tied to this album.

bro, Grammys are given for artistic value. Not only in RAP. its been tons of unknowns nominated for Album of the year (which was generarlly a white category until very recent) that wasnt sellers but then got the Grammy and sales took off.

Grammys are about artistic value. Same with the Oscars.

Look at the list of rap album Grammy winners since 96. its a different curve. You going wayyyyyyyyyy too hard in here. breathe bro..

AMA's give awards out for albums sales and who hot. Golden Globes does it for movies.

Grammys are like dinner at Ocean Prime.

Trap rappers generally Red Lobster shyt breh. They need to up the artistic value
