act like show me what you got wasn't top 10 song brehs. shyt even on to the next one charted higher than anything nas did since bush was in office.

edit: holy grail was #4, not to mention WTT

And if Jay plays 'Show Me What You Got" in a Verzuz against Nas, he would get laughed at.

Nas has zero songs in the last decade in the mainstream public consciousness.

He made a single with Fivio and Ferg and the shyt barely has 10M views.

What's in the mainstream public consciousness is WAP lmao so that shyt ain't the be all end all. Y'all underrate quality sometimes. Jay's quality has been real hit or miss for the past 12 or 13 years.

But since y'all always wanna go down the "Nas is irrelevant now" lane let's talk about it - KD took best rap album at the 2021 Grammy's, KDII is a great album that hit No. 3 on Billboard despite competing against female pop star albums and he's got 11 mill monthly streams on Spotify. Not too bad for a 90's vet who been in it for 30 years.

You in here saying Nas hasn't had a hit since 2002 to saying he has no hits.

And it takes NO skill as an artist to make a hit. An artist having a hit relies solely on enough people playing the song enough to make it a hit. Otherwise, it isn't a hit. And the reason why no skill is required is an artist can't just sit there and churn out a hit especially by themselves. Artists create songs. That is their skill. Whether or not those songs become hits relies on the consumer. It also relies on the A&R who often give artists' beats, shop and pitch singles to them, help pick the single.

Again, you prove how little musical knowledge you have because even writing the simplest story requires some level of skill.
The dude can’t make a damn hit lol

but acting like nas don't got 20 in a verzuz is just retard shyt
He doesn’t have 20 records with mass appeal he is at a disadvantage facing a Pac, an LL, a Jay. It showed up in every thread but y’all are just straight up delusional.

VS is about who has the most songs that resonates with this large audience[/B] and they recognize as soon as the beat dr

It's not. If Jay and Nas did a Verzuz, I highly doubt Jay is going to sit up there and just play Top 40 hits against Nas. Why? The two of them draw an audience who listen to them for more than just their hit songs. Just because Jay Z plays "Big Pimpin" and Nas responds with "NY State of Mind" doesn't automatically give Jay a win. A Verzuz is fan service as much as it is anything else, so there will be album cuts from both artists and for Jay and Nas, The album cuts might dominate their respective sets moreso than what made radio.

He doesn't have to have 20 songs with mass appeal. Nas wouldn't be at a disadvantage facing off against Jay because again, Jay definitely isn't just going to go through a bunch of singles knowing they have an overlap of fans who will want to hear the album cuts.

Nas vs LL is a different story. Same goes for Pac.

Now it’s gonna be a b-side fest because Nas don’t have enough hits :bryan:

Why would Jay counter NY State of Mind with Big Pimpin :dead:

That’s an alley oop for him to play Empire State of Mind, Where I’m From, or Welcome to NYC. And like I said Empire State of Mind would win the round because it’s a bigger record. Nikkas will spit Jay’s verses word for word.

mass appeal songs doesn't really mean anything, as we've seen in past verzuz. It helps, but it can also hinder, depending on what's played
