I'm not sure why people really think he can't make it on a special teams squad or be a nickel/slot back
This is a dude that blocked both Yao Ming and Shaq and played PROFFESSIONAL ball at the highest level and did it very well.
He's not some random rugby player or dude. He is still a freak athlete who playing minimum time on the field could be possible especially if his numbers are good
To clarify, I don't think he could do it. Thats my opinion. But in response to you, I have mentioned to guys before about what Special Teams on a football squad really is. It would be his only shot but ST is primarily made up of freak athletes that are lacking in football skill in comparison to the other two teams on a club. The fastest guy on a football team is likely NOT going to be a starter nor would the highest jumping player etc. Someone like Desean Jackson may be the fastest on a team but he is known for being one of the fastest in the league period. Usually though, theres a guy just as fast or likely faster than your fastest starter, but lacks the talent to go along with his athleticism to be a starter so is on ST. Like Devin Hester for example. All he can do is run fast in an open field. They tried to make him a receiver and nikka couldnt run a route or catch a ball to save his life.
I say all that to say, Nate coming out of college would likely have ended up on special teams a short period into the league if he made it anyway, if at all. 1st rounders fall all the time 2nd, even more so. Projected round charts are the worse. A decade removed from football repetitions and the obvious drop off in whatever cover ability he did have on top of not being as athletic as he was in college leads me to believe that I don't see him getting signed. I could be wrong, but if he did, I couldn't be convinced it wasn't a publicity signing.
I like Nate though and wouldnt mind seeing him on a football field though.
