To qualify that...we will rightfully equate a-theist-ic approaches as "free thought" or to not simply "believe a thing" without proof. Your statement...and I've heard it elsewhere; is essentially stating that free thought is a european concept, to question, desire knowledge, search beyond the quo, be intellectually free, physically free...are all european concepts according to the line of thought you state. Affirming in the idea that these are not natural or innate to the African. If the qualities and nature of the atheistic concept are not of us, then why reject slavery and inferiority? It actually exemplifies itself clearly in the US. seeing how AA are very devout to the implanted faith of the slave owner himself and collectively suffer presently social/political/economic/educational/ inferiority.
