He a better facilitator than MJ and Kobe too

If his argument is greatness based on winning cuz he mentioned rings, Luka ain’t in the convo wit Dirk either I don’t think is comparable with any of those names
*sigh*. When MJ was moved to point he got a triple double for like 10 out of 11 games. However, his main role was to be the unstoppable scorer he was. Make no mistake though, he was a great playmaker. He just wasn't called on to be. If he had the point role in today's NBA, the Godly stats would be unreal.

@Apprentice speaking truth...

Dudes wanna make this a "he better than Dirk" about skill, there's 100 players in the NBA today "more skilled" than Dirk if that's the lane you wanna go down. All these young guys grew up in a game more concentrated on developing the entire offensive package...

Sports has never been, that the best players are equivalent to the most skilled, ever. You can't just throw out no "he's better than Dirk" and get away with it...

Legs mentioned titles, add Dirk, that's 16 titles, 25 Finals appearances, 29 conference finals appearances, 11 league MVPs, 13 Finals MVPs between the greats Legs named...

If Dirk is the entry point to conversation, and he should be given the names thrown out, this is what Dirk did for this same franchise:

Prime Dirk (2000-12)
•led Dallas to 55.4 wins/year, including 3x 60-win seasons, 8x 50-win seasons
•peaked at 67 wins (2007), bottomed out at 45 (2012). The only season Dirk's Mavs won fewer than 50 games was literally the last year of his prime
•Mavs never missed the playoffs with Prime Dirk Nowitzki
1-1 Finals, 2-1 WCF
•'11 champ, '11 FMVP, '07 MVP (3x Top 5 MVP finalist), '07 50/40/90
•12x All-NBA (4x 1st), 11x All-Star

Prime Luka (2019-present)
•has led Dallas, thru 4 completed years, to an average of 46.3 wins/year, including just one 50-win season in 4 years. This year Dallas is on pace for 45 wins so probable you have yet another sub-50 win year with Luka as your guy
•peaked at 52 wins (2022), 15 fewer than Peak Dirk wins; bottomed out at 38 wins (2023), 7 fewer than Bottom Dirk wins
•has already missed the playoffs one more time than Dirk ever did in his prime
•0-1 WCF
•4x 1st Team All-NBA, 5x All-Star
•2x Top 5 MVP finalist

.........

The production is there to compare him to Dirk, but he isn't elevating talent or winning like Dirk right now, and honestly that isn't even close yet. Having Dirk at this franchise was a playoff lock, we already know that isn't true about Luka, and this is why these "skill" arguments never work, that shyt isn't analogous to winning in any sport...

I'm a Luka guy, he could go up from here and have a truly dominant career the rest of the way. But if Dirk is the barrier to entry, he was more dominant within his era, than Luka is to his, and won significantly more, "winning" not simply being about who won the most titles, which, Luka obviously isn't comparable there either. But Luka isn't even close to winning at the level Dirk won at, not yet...

Very reckless comment by Kidd and reckless co-signing the Dirk angle by Legs...

How you just smooth move him past Durk :mjtf:That’s just nasty

The same shyt I was saying regarding Mahomes and Brady. New age discourse is mesmorized by the moment and ready to completely ignore accolades

Durk has 2 high level tangibles. A finals MVP and an MVP. Those are holy grail level items you need before you can just move past someone.
But Dirk is also the reason why they now wait to award the MVP

Luka has to win a chip with his ball dominant style 1st before he can be compared to Dirk. The skills talking point is a non factor, they play different positions.
Even worse, they play in different era's. If Dirk era was teaching bigs to do Jokic shyt he would be doing that shyt too. Luka would be a PF in Dirk's heyday 🤣

Kidd saying this is beyond disrespectful. Dirk won waaayyyy more with this same franchise than what Luka is doing, it's not even close at this point...

It’s surprising coming from Kidd when Dirk got him his only ring as a player
