:what:

breh, you're the one who is pushing for a system that's close to communism

i'm saying that the players who generate the revenue should keep a significant portion of the salary cap - this is capitalism

you're saying that role players should make 60-70 percent of what the superstars make just because - this is not capitalism

they could just remove the cap altogether

at the very least remove max salaries.

nikkaz and hating cacs don't understand that the players aren't just the "workers", but they are also the "product".

This salary increase is horrible for the game. Players are receiving contracts on an outrageous level (not worth it) and getting paid like baseball players. The league that we use to love regarding trades and free agent signing is no-more and this benefit small market teams the most.
I hear you breh but having a Sixers logo as your avi isnt a good look if you're gonna bring up this topic..

Baseball was the #1 sport in the country at one point and their season is twice as long as the NBA's
what year was that? regardless, way society is trending, my point is only strengthened

when the NFL is in season, its unfukkablewith. every game matters immensely, and its only 3 hours a week per team

All this bread coming in and it'll probably still be a lockout.

yup, but that's because of the owners lying about losing money. They want to have their cake and eat it too as far as making money not only on the team value increasing throughout the years, but operationally every year as well.

Oh don't get me wrong, NFL is king in this country and that isn't changing anytime soon

Ok, so who gets to define who gets the superstar label and how do you keep a mid level team from paying a mediocre player like a superstar?

A.Hard cap
B.shorten rookie deals to 3 years
c. No max on how much a player can make
D. Remove the ability to go over the cap to keep your own players
e. Allow teams to frontload by 12.5 percent each year

Set the cap at lets say, 125 million for next year

Contracts are fully guaranteed, but you can release players. When they get released, they go to whichever team makes the highest bid. However much that team bids gets removed from your cap hit.

Teams wont be able to have 3 all stars like cleveland

Tanking wont be so easy when rookie deals only last for 3 years

A team might pay lebron 50 mil, but they wont give it to millsap in this situation

There are only 430 NBA jobs available, roughly 1 billion people around the world play basketball, why is it so hard to accept that the cream of the crop gets paid well. Teams scour the globe to find players, if dudes are getting paid out the ass so be it.

It's not even that, it's the fact that the NBA bring in billions of dollars each year(Because people want to watch these players), and it's only fair the TALENT get's their fair percentage of that revenue.

That's why the WNBA doesn't pay shyt, even though it's the best female players in the world, there's no big revenue because nobody wants to watch that shyt.

The NBA has better long term prospects than the NFL. The NBA hasn't really touched overseas markets yet, but they've made inroads. Basketball is a more accessible sport, is played in many overseas countries and there are numerous international players already. American Football is much too nuanced to be fully embraced by overseas markets. The NBA has the right idea by staging exhibition games in in Europe, Asia and now Africa. The contracts are only likely to increase from here on out.

By overpaid you mean???

I think in the next 10-20 years pro sports will collapse. or at the very least, everybody will take pay cuts.

Somewhere along the food chain, with all of this money being shelled out to pay outrageous salaries, money will dry up. We'll see more going out than what's coming in.

Whether it's from the TV stations, the league, fans with less disposable income, whatever the catalyst ends up being.

According to Forbes, 39 of the 122 professional sports teams lost money last year.

These max contracts aren't sustainable if you're borrowing from Peter to pay Paul.

We'll also end up being saturated with even more endorsements, like company logos on jerseys. The money has to come from somewhere I guess.

Damn yall boys lack understanding

We dont give a fukk about these owners, they could go bankrupt for all we care

We want superstars to make more. Roleplayers dont even have to make less, we can just increase superstar pay.

Paul millsap should not be able to make 3 million less than lebron
But breh that's not even the premise of this thread. One post O.P. talking bout small market teams not able to afford star players through free agency. Your promise is a whole not her thread.

niccaz getting crazy money in baseball and football too i.e: giancarlo stanton and ndamukong suh

That football money isn't legit a percentage of the time it's largely incentive based or they will cut the player before towards the end of it.

What is a fair percentage exactly? Sounds pretty arbitrary.

This is why salary caps exist in the first place... It's a form of regulation so teams can't pay overblown salaries to collect all the best players like they do in European soccer. NBA teams are also micromanaged in the same way. You don't want individual players taking up half of the team's salary either, making it a league of haves and have nots. Basketball is a team sport.. it's not golf or tennis. Close to equitable salaries makes it possible to keep core players together longer rather than having to reshuffle their rosters when contracts are up. It gives teams like the Warriors some wiggle room so they can make a run at another championship without having to retool and look for another Draymond Green. The best players are still getting paid so called 'max' salaries, so this veiled attempt at lobbying for them is BS. You all just seem upset that less talented players are still getting paid under the new TV deal. Guess you should have become an NBA role player. :yeshrug:
