Regarding ratings, this is entirely the fault of how NBA promotes it's product where they focus on players instead of teams.
You rarely saw the Pacers and Thunder get exposure even as the Thunder were having an incredible season with an MVP candidate. Whenver the Pacers were talked about it centered on Hali being an overrated player. Majority of the topic often discussed when it came to the NBA were centered around LeBron/Embiid/Steph/KD/Jokic/Giannis/Luka. This the main reason why the ratings are low because the topics discussed ad nauseum throughout the season are irrelevant since none of them made the Finals.
It's a shame really since these playoffs have been as entertaining as it's been in a long time, the refs have let the players actually play defense, and players have stepped up, and hit clutch shots after clutch shots and lots of crazy comebacks. Yet, no one seems to care outside of hard core NBA fans.
They have to get rid of Silver and exercise more control of how networks talk about their product otherwise this shyt will continue. It might even get worse since the retired players now that are prominent voices come from the same 'all about the player' culture that's cultivated all this negative media.
