How do you use an example to support logic and in the same post use another example to defy logic? :wtf: Who has single-handedly won a NBA ship? :dwillhuh: Seriously. :mjpls:

Obviously its a team sport but hardly in the same breath as Football or Baseball.

In the NFL you have 11 players on each side, for each offense and defense.
In the MLB you have completely different positions relying on different skill sets.

In the NBA, you have 5 guys playing on your team at a time- its not that difficult to believe that one player could have a huge influence. As such, he will receive the praise and the blame, a la "why hasnt he won us a 'ship?".

Honestly, Stern created this way of thinking when he turned the league from a team brand to a star driven brand. People started straying away from being Miami fans to Bron fans. Melo stans went from Denver to NYC. When the focus was shifted to the individuals- those stars started to received more scrutiny.

You do know that Scottie Pippen is one of the best SF ever right?? Jordan needed him to win. If so then why are you demanding much more from players today? You want them to win with less talent than Jordan did?? shyt Kobe won a championship with less talent than either Mavericks, Heat or Boston have/had but he still dont credit for it.
Him and Lebron should get more credit for taking the teams that they did to the finals? Lebron with that Cavs team and Kobe with that 08 team.

You want guys to get credit for losing?

Jordans mythology is amazing I hear all the time that Jordan never passes on last second shots and I bring it up on youtube when he did and what do I hear.....He wanted to show that he was unselfish and the game was so easy he wanted his team to feel good about themselves ...........Its like his first 8 years never happened its amazing.....ITS LIKE HE IS A GOD!!

This is mostly gibberish. Most leagues try to market their sport by focusing attention on their superstars. Ships are won in team sports from the contributions of all the individuals that are apart of the team. Period. Everything you're talking about how basketball is different is pure basura. How come you can't name a "one-man team" that has won a ship then?

You're going to sit here and tell me the NBA aint the most star driven league in the country?

And I never said that a 'one man team' has ever won a championship. But youre not listening. The perception becomes reality... If Melo wins the ship this year, and its because shump improves and Barg gels, people will still say Melo was able to bring the championship back to NYC. Why? Because we see it as Melo's team.

Seldom do we see this type of ownership by a single player in any other sport.

Tom Brady is heralded as the GOAT when Adam Viniterri and bad specials teams by the opposing won him 2 Super Bowls. When he had to do it he failed twice/

If the Knicks win the ship Melo will be a big reason why they won it. And while I agree they're Melo's team it doesn't mean he should be credited for all of their success (or their failures). If the Knicks win it all because of those things you mentioned any logical person will include those things in the list of reasons regarding why they won.

And, again, I gotta disagree about it being different in other sports, word to Dan Marino. Blame and praise are unjustly heaped on NFL QBs year in and year out.
