you can blame the economy or the new nyc demographic or stubhub or whatever you want

fact is people in the city are simply less interested in sports. the only ticket that maintains its value is knicks/rangers and thats only because its right in midtown and its all corporate.

apart from that the only sports ticket that also kept its value is us open, but thats a global event and people come from other countries for that. so it doesnt really count. also doesnt count, playoff games for mets (due to rarity), not even the yankees anymore. those regular billy joel concerts at msg are crazy too. but he's the goat ny signer so thats an exception.

the only potential team i could see being super popular week in week out is if they move nycfc to flushing. now that would be a real neighborhood team. but it makes too much sense so no way its happening.

All true. Brooklyn is bizarro world and sports definitely isn't at the top of that food chain.

Lirr is steps away from Barclays. Long Island fans are not cut off.

The problem is the product. Let them be a second round team with a real star them seats would be filled. There are millions and of people with in a 30 min subway ride of Barclays

And for Long Island people who drive, where are they parking?

Lol @ "This will always be the Knicks' city"

No shyt. But there's no reason BKN can't be the Clippers. Yanno, the team that recently sold for a couple billion. It may have been bad for Brooklyn but it certainly wasn't bad for the league. They just need to produce a better product.

at the LIRR parking lot :stopitslime:.

you speaking as though since "they drive" they cant use public trans when its logical to do so. half of them work in the city and use LIRR mon - friday anyway. who is driving to knicks and rangers games like that? nobody. this is NYC and you know parking is not an issue exclusive to the Nets. and theres no loation better served by public trans in the entire world that the intersection of atlantic and flatbush. its breeze getting from almost anywhere in LI to the barclays.

AND! i found parking on portland ave the last 2 games i went to this season.

They don't hit you with the $45 charge that the mall parking does for hockey and basketball games?

Not in a parking lot..if you go early enough you can find parking on the street..5th ave side on the side streets where i usually find.

It really is easier to just take the train..shyt ive gone there by train, car, even a dollar van :heh:

shyt, if it's cheap then I gotta let my cousins and uncles know. It's about $20 taking the train back and forth from their place to the arena for hockey games. I don't think they've gone this season.

As someone who grew up in New Jersey, I still don't understand why owners thought it was a good idea to move two more teams (Devils/nets) to the area. Yeah theres a ton of people living in NJ, but everyone is close enough to either NYC or philly that it is not necessary to change fandom. I think you're better off finding a smaller market that you can really become part of the culture ala Oklahoma City.

There are parking garages all over Manhattan tho.

And if you want people to come out to events, you have to give people as few excuses as possible :yeshrug:

So how have your experiences been taking LIRR home after Barclays Center events? :jbhmm:

there are multiple parking garages near barclays including the one 200 feet away on pacific. the issue is the price. same reason people choose to leave their cars at home when they go to msg. i took the LIRR from rochdale in jamaica where my grandmother lives to barclays for the tidal show. smooth as ever. way better then the subway. i still dont understand the problem.

I've learned to avoid driving like the plague here and that goes double for driving to games in the city. The only arena I would drive to for games is the coliseum. Driven to Yankee stadium, driven to the meadowlands, and I get stuck in traffic at the Atlantic mall way too much. Personally I take the train if I'm going to a game there since I'm walking distance from the Utica stop for the 3 and 4. My family lives all near Suffolk county though so for them to take the train to an islanders game would be real costly. I think $9.50 each way per person.
