Bill Simmons' proposal to fix this was to allow the team that was intentionally fouled off the ball to choose between free throws or just keeping the ball and inbounding at half court.

From an entertainment standpoint, I see why it's a problem, but teams should be punished for putting terrible free throw shooters out there :manny:

Really though, this strategy only works against a small number of NBA players. It's not viable once you get north of ~55% from the line.

I don't like the strategy from a entertainment perspective but make your free throws and teams won't do it. What's next eliminating the ISO cause teams have bad perimeter defenders? The reason you can't do it in the last 2 mins is cause of late game situations. If your down 4 with 20 seconds to go you could foul off ball and no time would go off the clock if not for the rule.
