Honestly I think you should just let it be, its hard to assess whats entertaining and not. For example If my team is employing the strategy and its working giving us a chance to win a game thats entertaining to me. Also I think you get into a slippery slope eliminating things based off of "entertainment".

But I think if you must deter things this behavior. I would employ a a clock management aspect to it. So you hack a shaw my player the team fouled has a choice to deduct 24 seconds from the remaining game time. So if a team does that they don't have time working in their favor. But I'm not sure how you can determine whats hack a shaq and whats a real foul. Teams would just try to get more creative with "intentional fouls"
The Spurs did Hack-a-Jordan while they were ahead. to them that's better than Jordan getting 2 cracks to score.

fukk that, go to the gym and get on the line 100 times a day. If they don't like it, bench him:camby:

If you miss more than 6 free throws in one game. You can shoot next 2 free throw rounds from the dash on the circle. (Closer range). Then it resets, back to the line.

I just never understood how some players are such poor free throw shooters. I mean as a professional basketball player, it is your JOB to play basketball. That means getting in the gym and putting up hundreds, if not, thousands of shots per day. Reps of free throws being apart of that. It's embarrassing to see how awful some of these guys are at the line. fukk change the rule too.

The issue is entertainment. Fouling up 3 is shytty as a viewer

LOL.

Fantastic argument.

I guess fouls on any dunk attempts should get a player just ejected from the game then.

Lame as fukk.

How you a NBA player but cant make your free throws at least 70% of the time. Want to stop free throw hacks? Make your fukking free throws then the other team would stop
A lot of players are in the league on the strength of physicality or athleticism not based on pure skill.

If you can dunk at will or dominate the paint it's pretty clear that teams don't care if you can hit frees

The only reason to get rid of hack a shaq has been for entertainment purposes. Silver said so himself

No shyt. That doesn't mean using a slippery slope argument is any less stupid.

Fouling up 3 isnt a basketball play. It's a purposeful misuse of the rule, like hack a shaq is. The only difference is hack a shaq isnt as widely used as fouling up 3 could be.

Hopefully it does end because there have been too many times when I just said "fukk it" during a game and turned it off because I got tired of watching the same player shoot free throws every other possession. I can't watch that garbage
