Whats wrong with the lottery as is?
It doesn't address the tanking that it was designed to.
So 48 win Phoenix gets the number one pick last year?
What's wrong with that? If a 48 win team can miss the playoffs by luck of the draw then why can't that same 48 win team get a legit shot at the top pick by luck of the draw.
I agree with this. the teams that suffer the most are teams that actually try everything they can to make the playoffs and win, but wont ever get past the first two rounds. So the only choice is to either blow everything up or pray for a miracle. Give those middling teams the same shot to get a superstar and become elite.
Basically the way it goes now. Get superstar first, build team 2nd. waste years of stars prime.
But why not build competitive team now. Get superstar after, then take next step.
Took the words out of my mouth.

We talkin' 'bout draft reform?"
(philly, clevland, NO (TO A lesser extent) etc

). Smaller markets can sign second teir and below guys. There is only so much room in NY and LA.
