Go look at how many MVPs played under 70 games in the history of the NBA. That's how they got to 65, which is more than fair. They drew a line in the sand and still gave a cushion.

Cade missed 3 straight games in Nov. Ok, let's say that was for a legit injury/illness. Then he missed 4 random games between Jan & earlier this month. Had he played those games, he'd still have been eligible.
It’s not just MVP, it’s all-NBA

DONT LIE ON KOBE
KOBE NEVER PLAYED LESS THAN
65 GAMES IN A NON LOCKOUT SEASON
AND MADE ALL NBA

BRON ON THE OTHER HAND
HAS ATLEAST 3 SEASONS
WHERE HE PLAYED AROUND 55 GMS
AND MADE ALL NBA.

THIS RULE WAS SPECIFICALLY
CREATED FOR nikkaS LIKE HIM.

NOTICE HOW HE JUMPED
BACK UP TO 70 GAMES
IN THE PREVIOUS 2 SEASONS

In 2003-04 Kobe played 63 games with 20+ minutes, 1 game with 15-20 minutes

He would not have made all NBA that year with these rules

Leave it to the dumbest dude in this thread nitpicking one season of Kobe’s career where this rule wouldve effected one of his all nba selections. You’re fishing. If you cant play 80% of the games, you dont deserve any regular season awards.

I do not feel bad for Cade, like others have said. Detroit has sat him out during random games this season.

And again, people pay their hard earned money to see these guys play. Non injured players taking random games off is not good for the product. This is why this rule is in place.

nikkas are still collecting checks for every game...they just dont get awards. Cade, like many others, has missed games he coulda played in on some :manny: shyt. This is the risk you run. Players actually playing isnt a bad thing. I could see if we talking 80 games but 17 games is more than enough cushion.

fukk outta here, bytch ass nikka. I'm proving why the rule is unnecessary

it's arbitrary, and it affects more than MVP. Now that salaries are tied to these selections, it's going to be scrutinized more.

dumbass nikka, the rule needs to go, or be altered because it's too punitive, especially considering 65 was a fukking arbitrary number. retroactively, it would affect a lot of players from the past

yao ming would lose almost all his all-NBA selections
butler would also be negatively affected, as well as demarcus cousins
Even LeBron would lose out, but still have the all-time record

it's not just kobe, and i'm not nitpicking you fukking bum. Multiple stars would be affected

Shaq would lose 4 selections
Embiid Would lose 3
Bron would lose 4

Nah fukk that 65 games it is. If you get injured it sucks but it’s part of the game. Being healthy and reliable is part of the massive fukking 40-60 million dollar (per year) pay check you getting regardless if you healthy or not. You not getting rewarded for being out. This is fukking crazy and I hope they don’t bend the rules for these soft ass players. NBA is becoming a joke if it’s not already

yeah they're still getting checks, but they're losing out on a LOT of money. the CBA has tied all-NBA selections to this 65 game rule, so players stand to lose a ton of money. Cade shouldn't lose out from a freak injury. Thats the point

I don't disagree but this was collectively bargained, right? They just signed the CBA less than 3 years ago... they didn't have the foresight to figure stuff like this would happen?

:dead:IF THE RULE EXISTED
HE OBVIOUSLY WOULD
MADE SURE HE PLAYED
20+ MIN IN 65 GMS.

THE FACT IS HE SUITED UP
FOR 65 GMS THAT YEAR

no, they didn't. they just wanted to be able to smoke weed without being tested. they got that, so they were happy. It was shortsighted of them not to say no to this, or at least negotiate further

and i'm sure there are others who i've named that would play the extra games

but that's my point. The voters knew Kobe was all-NBA material, and he didnt play 65 games at 20 mins every game. He was still worthy of being All-NBA

Same logic here. No one is voting for guys hat played 35 games. Players that managed to play a good majority of the games should get all-NBA, MVP, DPOY, all-defense, etc.

Shaq would lose 4 All-NBA selections (2 first teams) if this rule was in effect. It doesn't make sense, and there isn't a need for it since the voters already took into account games played when they made their selections. Kawhi played 56 games this season and has been phenomenal. He should be all-NBA even though he didn't play a random asspulled number of 65 games

EDIT: The only time a voter tried to make a player All-NBA when they didnt really deserve it was in 2021, when Jalen Rose said he voted for Kyrie. Kyrie only played like 30 games. This is just an example of Jalen being a dunce
