The NCAA is stuck in between a rock and a hard place. Most of the top power conferences are in favor of breaking away into a new division and paying players. No matter how powerful the NCAA may be, they are holding back institutions that have billion dollar endowments and boosters pumping money into their school's programs like it's nothing. If anyone is going to blink first it is more than likely going to be the NCAA.

In order of importance
1.)talk from the major conferences hinting at splitting from the NCAA. Big XII was the first to speak about it publicly
2.) They want Johnny Football to play

114.) Ed's lawsuit :lolbron:

Paying all the players is not the answer. That shyt will not work on so many levels. I really think a simple solution is to make give 2 options -- an incoming athlete can choose to accept or decline the scholarship. If he feels he will make more money off his name than what the school is offering, then he'll go for it. For those that accept the scholarship, the school should be able to make money for the program in whatever way they see fit. :manny:

players should play in the cfl / europe for bball etc instead of going to college. college should be for real students. minor leagues are for athletes

That will ruin college sports for the sake of college football.
Then again, the NCAA has done a good job of ruining college basketball with this shyt so why not tear it all down?
