meh... there's always a way to make it work. :manny:

people are too scared to try something new. why? you mean to tell me that if someone broke down to you the current structure in an effort to lobby your support for it's implementation you wouldn't be like "fukk outta here! that's a terrible system!" but since its all we know people just accept it. smh

I don't mean to tell you that at all.

What I mean to tell you is if someone comes with a plan to pay players, they better have thought of everything.
There are so many ways it can go wrong. And it's worthless if they change a bad system for another bad one.

The UConn men also have their issues with the NCAA police as of late. That plus no Calhoun hasn't made it easier for them to keep their status.
Meanwhile, UConn ladies get penciled to win the title every year.

My ">" in the post you quoted meant "better".

(And I noticed you didn't take issue with the other two schools.)

So if they decide to start paying athletes tomorrow, is it a stretch to think UConn womens' ball would get a bigger piece of the pie than UConn football? I think not. That's what i'm saying.

Couple people in here said women's sports don't fall anywhere into this payment issue, and that's not true.
I pointed out UConn cuz I'm a fan so that's all I really give a fukk about and no, they would not bring in more money than football simply because of the numbers. UConn football brings in more money than both of the bb programs despite the fact that it is less sucessful, that is just the way shyt works.

I'll concede to that, because I don't know the finite numbers of UConn football. My point is -

:mindblown: did you even read my post? I CLEARLY stated that "everyone WON'T be paid fairly and the system will be based off capitalism where your're paid based on skill and worth." Basically, with this system, we are talking about the payments of football athletes and basketball athletes because these are the main money-maker programs. If an Athlete is performing at certain tier-level, they are paid a certain percentage of money made from the events they participate in or money made from their "likeness or name," (basically from video games or jersey sales, etc.). The lower down the scale you go, the lower your percentage is because realistically, you're not generating shyt.
So you aren't gonna pay women cause most of their sports don't generate revenue? Most baseball and other men sports don't create revenue. Hell the football makes the most but also cost the most to run. Realistically only a few cats should get paid in the entire athletic programs. How would you create a tier? Game by game? Year by year? Starters/2nd string/3rd string. It's easier said than done

What the hell are you talking about man???

Uconn football makes just as much as
Uconn women and men Bball combined

Figures released by the school, which include both direct revenue, including tickets sales and TV income, and indirect revenue, such as corporate sponsorships and fundraising, showed the football team spent $19.7 million and took in $21.3 million, clearing $1.6 million.

The men's basketball team took in $13.8 million and cleared $3.9 million; the women's team took in $10.4 million and cleared $3.8 million.

Underated post. What makes it even worse is these kids have basically a year round obligation to their football program. Johnny Football cant even step outside in the offseason w/o ppl snapping photos. They can't even get jobs with all the offseason practices, training and camps they go 2. Students on an academic scholarship can do whatever they want.

Yea...we can :takedat:

This argument always brings up these phantom issues/road blocks.

Look, the bottom line is that men's basketball and football generate the vast majority of the revenue, those are the athletes that deserve a more fair compensation.

If your particular program can't afford to abide by this new compensation structure, then take yo ass to a lower division. :yeshrug:

You pay people with Money

You keep saying this b/c you heard Bomani Jones say it over and over, but lets be real here......scholarships are considered payments, and if not, do you condone paying students given schollys for academic purposes?

Also, how about this....if you're gona pay players, then take away their schollies, since according to you they aren't of any fair value???
