100 years ago, coming out could get you banished from you community, shunned by your family, or even killed. Self preservation takes over and forces people to hide who they really are. Because that isn't anywhere near an issue as it was in the past and people can live their truth, you're going to have a lot more people tell the truth about themselves. This isn't some grand conspiracy. It's common sense.
