Ohh so u on my dikk huh?

Maryland is the South just because it’s not Deep South doesn’t mean it’s not the South.

How am I wrong I’m not wrong and I’m not sure why you Marylanders like to distance yourselves from the South. :mjpls:

Nope, just noticed you side with a lot of bullshyt

If Maryland is the south, how come many black folk in the Great Migration moved to DC and Baltimore, instead of moving further north? Why wasn't Jim Crow as prevalent in MD the way it was across the Potomac?

:laff: and not surprised at you trying to make this a racial issue. Deal with the fact that the South starts in Virginia :umad:

Just to put into perspective how small 800,000 people is. The south has 15 states according to OP map. If you divide 15 states by 800K people that means each southern state grew by 53,000 people.

:mjlol:

This is not thread worthy or an amazing number at all.

Interesting cause this same number is brought up about the pandemic and there is 330 million people in the United States.

my wife and I never wanted to stay in NY, we were born and raised here. We had a 3-4 year plan originally. We Owned a house in queens, took advantage of the pandemic, was able to stop paying mortgage for like 8 months due to Covid relief (didn’t need it) and was able to sell the house that I bought for $430K in 2017 for $610K this year. They were building brand new houses in new neighborhoods in Florida and jumped on the opportunity and things kinda just flowed together. Better weather, better schools, way better extracurricular activities for students, sports, clubs etc at schools. Was able to transfer my job. Cost of living is cheaper, so my wife is now a stay a home mom, being able to spend more time with the kids is invaluable to their development. No need paying for babysitters. We bought a bigger house then the one we had in queens for cheaper and it’s brand new. My parents retired to Florida a couple years ago, so it’s was easy for us to transition, staying with them and it gives them more time with their grandchildren.

It's a bit more nuanced than just looking at these broad numbers. For instance.. if you were to take a look at the population spread of these transplants you'd see that most of these people are moving to a handful of these southern states and only 1 or 2 cities within said states. The main motivation for this migration is to enjoy a somewhat similar lifestyle to HCOL area they're moving from at a much cheaper price, so they naturally flock to areas where shyt is happening. There's a reason why people are crying about housing prices in some areas but not others within the same cities/states.

Only caveat is all them folks are going to the same few cities. They aren't just spreading out as far as they can in each state. Central Texas/Houston/Dallas, Atlanta, and the Greenville metro area alone most likely got most of them.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.

that’s a fact. I was demonstrating how small that number is. In reality people moving from city to city has been declining especially since cost is living is rising everywhere.

maybe it’s because I study geography a lot but when I saw 800,000 I’m like wtf? That’s like saying 0 people moved lol
