People don't know what they want.
Some folks treat marriage like they just BF/GF so it isn't that simple if you marry the wrong person with the wrong "intentions".

I hear you, but I'm seeing that people DON'T understand this.
One of many reasons why communication ends up more like a cat and mouse game instead of both people being emotional mature and vulnerable.
Marriage is a job, to your point people view it as some 'i like you stuff'. Marriage is an institution fo legacy building. The issue is folks think its a romantic thing, get into it and see the work required and the accountability associated and run away (see the divorce rates). If you like someone you dont have to get married lol
