Sad that it's rare that someone at his level would even have a response like that. I have uncles, associates, mentors as accomplished as him...... all of their responses would appease CAC more. The fact that we don't have more NDT type responses is holding us back just as much as music, culture, environment, poverty, everything....

I remember like it was fukking yesterday, telling his cac ( a young cac bytch too) that worked at the university during orientation... {so fukking what I'm only 16}, i wanted to major in computer science. She was maddd disrespectful, and because I was basically still a kid at the time....... I told my mother on her (like a bytch nikka)... and my mother had a talk with her. THEN this bytch ACTUALLY had the nerve to debate my mother about how I would have wayyy too much of a workload for my first year. The very tone of some of these CAC always sticks with you.... so I feel what NDT is saying.

Yeah I remember something like that too. End of 6th grade, going into Jr. High. A lot of us were wanting to sign up for pre-AP courses and our teacher pretty much talked us all out of it on the same shyt. "Workloads" and all that. She made it out like if we did that we'd never see our friends or have anymore fun.

I feel like this video should be part of the discussion as well though:

so that begs the question...is it race or culture that is the real problem (of black people)?
Because he clearly succeeded because of his work ethic, he's smart, and his parents supported him...regardless of the "white power structure" folks love to talk about.

Lol @ putting white power structure in quotation marks. Deniers of 400 years of white supremacy designed to injure blacks, are just as goofy as any anti fact based cult out there.

Damn that's some sick shyt
or is it their default programming? There was a scene in the movie the truman show that always stuck with me. Truman, who wanted to be an explorer was rebuffed by his social studies teacher because everything was already discovered. I went to a high school and I didnt even thrive. However, I had one of the highest sat scores in my school. A higher sat score than the valedictorian. The counselor sought me out to tell me I would be better off going to a trade school instead of the community college of philadelphia. I reminded him I never asked for his input and hes lucky im a nice guy because that stunt with threatening my parents with arrest for truancy was unnecessary. Eventually I went on to ccp and became a nurse, moved on to a four year institution and got a bs in accounting, and now trying my hardest to get into an engineering program. All this coming from a kid with a d average in high school. But my grandmother always warned me that your enemy prays for your demise; thats why they are everywhere discouraging you when youre trying to be productive. If you want african minorities to thrive, you have to get these white women out our children's faces.

black love, unity, and music
You know what the funny thing about his response is though? He claims to have undergone discrimination and faced many roadblocks throughout his life right? Well guess what, look where he's at now? He made it to the top of the world, in SPITE of living in an age of racism and "white supremacy."

And for that, he should be applauded.

So what the fukk is your point? Racism is "no big deal?" If that's your conclusion, you're a fukking idiot.

I don't think racism is a big deal. At least not as big of a deal as blacks like to make it out to be.

The funny thing is that part of the reason why so many people are racists is because they see black people blaming racism for EVERYTHING. So it's a perpetual cycle. Blacks will not taking responsibility for one single problem in their community. It is the white man's fault for everything.

And just to be clear, my whole point was that even though racism IS a legitimate obstacle, it is NOT an obstacle too big to overcome. Plenty of blacks have fought for their place in society and they have made it big, in spite of the obstacles.

Blacks frequently like to blame racism for why they haven't succeeded in life when in all actuality they use cries of racism as a crutch for their own inadequacy.

If he really is black he already has.. he doesnt have to acknowledge it. thats his choice and it doesnt change anything. Racism is pervasive and intertwined into the american fabric. Its not an elephant in the room.. it is the room. Its not the result of anything... its the start of everything in america.. whites are always treated one way and blacks are always treated much worse.. from healthcare, to cops, to applying for loans and jobs...

you are surrounded by cacs and c00ns no matter how much money you make. everything i said applies to black people regardless of class, as tyson's remarks attest. he was the child of two educated professionals and still faced adults who wanted to drive him away from things they felt were out of place for him.

culture matters, and white culture is pathologically white supremacist. even black people can be white supremacists and will help uphold systems of white supremacy. some black people do a poor job of helping their children rise above the limits set for them by the dominant culture we live in. other times the kid simply cant handle life as it is and has to lose. poverty as a result of lacking resources and poverty culture in response to that condition have a role as well, which is why poor white children fare worse than more affluent ones, but at least they dont have to deal with one more hurdle. everything you can point at plays some role, it's just that some people want to ignore some of those things...

:salute:

ur literally wasting ur time trying to argue with that nikka. he brings up the same "what about the asians" point in every thread when anybody who grew up around asians, that were raised in lower class neighborhoods, knows that the darker brethen (vietnamese, cambodian, hmong, indians/pakistanis) dont give a flying fukk about education...and u can literally substitute the stereotypes they give us (gang affiliated, kids out of wedlock etc.) for them.

The vitriol I have aimed at c00ns like @bigDeeOT is they suggest genetic inferiority within my people. As if socioeconomic conditions don't result in the similar outcome for any race. Ignoring the fact that half the US is filled with methed out slums full of white trash. The nerve of these c00ns, these Yaqubs who trade in labcoats for keyboards.

Hey man, do yourself a favor. Consider using a word other than "c00n" when you disagree with another black person.

Gang violence...
Book Excerpt: The Sky is Not the Limit | Blog, Perspectives | BillMoyers.com

I shortly came to the shattering awareness that few parts of society were prepared to accept my dreams. I wanted to do with my life what people of my skin color were not supposed to do. As an athlete, I did not violate society’s expectations since there was adequate precedent for dark-skinned competitors in the Olympics and in professional sports. To be an astrophysicist, however, became a “path of most resistance.

He answers a question about women in science with his own experiences being a black man and wanting to become an astrophysicist.

Edit: Sorry forgot to mention, skip to the 1:01:30 part

wonderful answer. neil needs to be more outspoken on these issues. i know he's popular cause he's seen as a safe negro but i think it would shed light on the issues preventing more black folks from getting into the sciences.
