shyt came out when I was 14/15. Sure most of this message board got into hip hop with Nelly. Still a few good songs on here. Nelly was definitely getting thrashed by hip hop heads back then.

my man came out of nowhere with a monster hit, debuted at #1 selling way more than anybody expected him to sell. universal didnt even intend for him to sell like that. people forget that his promotion wasnt all that until AFTER he moved crazy units.

The explanation is ASAP didnt remotely reach the levels that nelly did.
Nelly became a don out here with sales matching the great white hope eminem.
Nelly was the 2nd biggest rapper (under em) when he blew up.
And when he came back in 2002 he still was.
ASap never reached that level where he was one of the top tier artist in the game with only one person ahead of him (cause of their race).
Now I dont expect him to do nelly numbers cause of the new age of digital music and piracy,but even scale wise he's not a top 2 artist. At best he's a top ten artist going off his last album and even that's debatable.
His only HUGE single features 3 big names (drake,kendrick,2chainz)
SO the point is he never "blew up" in a way comparable to a nelly.
He should be compared to Young Joc or somebody like that
