Yes, YOU made it, why wouldn't you?so if i record a song in my bedroom, do i own my masters?![]()

got the trap lane now, nobody even thinking about OTF or 300 anymore.
that was 12 years ago the climate isnt even the same as it was back then. Why do people think Indie is the answer for all problems? Do you know how hard it is to build up a brand and sustain that by yourself? TI was talking that Indie shyt too for 6 months, then signed that deal.

The sad thing is I knew it was going to happen because that is how it ends for most rappers except they keep putting out albums then start talking about indie being better when that is their only choice. shyt is sad.3 kids... half a mil in debt... no chance for a 2nd album... & pissed off ex crew members...![]()
Independent only works if you have great business people around you and you plan on longevity. Chief Keef was just a fad, you see Rich Homie Quan and Young Thuggot the trap lane now, nobody even thinking about OTF or 300 anymore.
It was smart for Keef just to get his label money and 15 minutes of fame now

I agree but I think he would have done better if he grinded his way to be noticed the way he was. His life will be more fukked up now then before because you can go up but its hard to come back down. He will miss the money, drugs, sex, and good life. Also a new drug habit that costs a lot to maintain. Then he has to worry about people shytting on him for fukking it up includung fake ass family and friends who spent the money, and the extra.enemies he has including the law.Probably right... keef obviously from his behavior isn't the type that can be trusted to run his own business, stay up on appointments, grind his way through regional tours etc, i mean he cant even be bothered to show up for his own video shoots... basically he got near a million bucks for the fact he made a couple flavor of the month mixtapes. He cashed out at just the right time.
TI is right, independent is not better than a GOOD record deal. The problem is very very few artists have good record deals. TI was in a position of power, he was a free agent, who JUST came off being the guest rapper on the biggest song of the summer (robin thickes joint), who has established he has a very loyal fan base over the course of many albums, who is argueable the most versatile veteran rapper out of ATL... he can make the currently hot TRAP style, he can make the slowed down houston style, he can make driving music, and even make a lyrical song if that is ever required...
The fact he was talking that 'i am going independent' angle and turning down bad deals left and right, was mostly a negotiating tool...

In the words of Rick James, "they should have never gave yall nikkas money".
Maybe. I know for me not having money, then having it, then going back to not having it is worse then not having it. I'm never going back to that shyt again. So he may change but considering his whole surroundings is fukked up, it will be reaaalll hard. Especially dealing with the bullshyt from his family and friends he helped. I bet his mother and baby moms are going to be on some bullshyt once reality hits. Watch.Who knows, based on his actions from what i can tell its 50/50 dude would have even survived to be 20 if he never got famous. Probably woulda been another junkie gangbanger who dies by age 20... at least he got to have a ball... and realistically dude is so young, he could get dropped from his deal, hit rock bottom, kick his drug addiction, grind to popularity, and still be younger than kendrick lamar, jcole, wale, and drake were when they first got noticed in the game...
