Les Nubians are arguably some of my favourite musicians. I'll never forget the day I found out about them.

Was on the road headed back from a Halloween Party 2016. It's about 2 AM and I just got back into the DC area from Baltimore (about a 1 hour drive). Switched the station to 95.5 and they had like a soulful throwback special.

"Makeda" came on and instantly I was hooked. I pulled over and pulled out my Shazam app. Once I got the track I went back home and went through their catalog. At that time I was a senior in college and still taking French so my fascination was sky high at the time.

Their first album "Princess Nubiennes" is really in a league of its own. I missed them when they came to DC last summer (2017) :mjcry:.

I really want to seem them perform live. Their songs are just so well done.

Desoleé's drums are just something else.

"Sugarcane" is better accessible to non-French speakers

I love India.Arie too, especially her first 2 albums.. Acoustic Soul was a great album. It was unfortunate how she lost every nomination to Alicia Keys at the 2002 Grammy Awards. She won 2 later with Voyage to India, which was cool.

Yeah, I actually didn’t know about this site until a few months ago. I lurked a bit and decided to make an account. At the time I registered, they didn’t have registration open and I had to contact an admin via twitter to get on. I like it here so far and the people on here are nice.

I’m glad you’re doing well. :smile: Anything new going on around KTT?

Yeah the name was obvious but that write up on Brandy on your website gave it away.

Nah nothing new same shyt, different shyt posters as far as KTT goes.

Haha! Yeah I still had to be D’Angelo inspired with the username. :laugh:

I decided to take up writing about music. Brandy was someone I wanted to write an in depth piece about for a while and after some time I got that accomplished. I plan on doing more in the near future. :smile:

Lmao! I don’t miss that at all. It seems like the majority of the posters on here are a lot mature and very knowledgeable. It’s like a complete 180 tbh. But it could be because people on here are older than the average age of people on KTT.
