There are only 10~ companies in the world that provide tier 1 network providers in the world.

It is very expensive to build the physical infrastructure because you actually have to install poles, wiring hundreds of thousands of miles maybe even millions.

These few companies will be able to regulate your data connectivity to the internet by 2018.

They can charge you for how much internet you use and the type of content you are viewing.

My thing is that you are creating competition at the end of the day. Its gonna be the same ten companies, you just give them free wheel of the most important asset for the average civilian society.

If your ISP feels like online gaming uses a lot of their bandwidth they'll either ask Sony or Microsoft to pay a fee, which will cause both to raise their online gaming subscriptions. Or they'll ask the consumers to pony up instead. Either way you'll be paying more to use the services you already enjoy.
