Also, it's obvious that if you mark "Black" and "Somali" both, you get counted as Black cause the left-most column you mark is the one that counts for Affirmative Action purposes. But EVERYONE is ignoring that.

It’s nothing new. Isn’t the census set up the same way? I know Asians were considered white damn near into the 70s

North Africans have always been counted as White on the census unless you explicitly mark "Black". It's dumb but it's not new.

I hadn't heard of Somalis/Sudanese counting in that category though (thought it was just Egyptians/Algerians/Moroccans/etc.), but there are definitely Arab Sudanese and I'm guessing there are probably some Arab Somalis. If you're Sudanese or Somali and want to be counted as Black then all you have to do is mark Black.

The UC system hasn't had Affirmative Action for over a decade. The new part is that California voters are voting whether to bring Affirmative Action back.

So a current student would be irrelevant, cause AA doesn't exist for them at all.

But in terms of classification system, I'm pretty sure that counting Arabs and West Asians as White is the same shyt the US Census does and has been standard for decades. And if you are from one of those countries but you're Black, all you have to do it mark "Black" and you get counted as Black. So no one has shown me how this hurts Black folk.

The sole reason it was posted was because that racist wants to create controversy so that Affirmative Action gets blocked again.
