I agree for the majority of the games shown.

Some did look very good, but for the most part it seemed like a slight step up.

But we all know the real power of the system isn't tapped until 3-4 years down the line

I disagree. Infamous Second Son looks better than anything I've played on my PC.

That and MGS5.

Metro's character models don't look sh1t better than this

character models are basically Halo 4 status but with a higher resolution, better textures thanks to a more powerful PC gpu

I hate to be "that guy" but if we're talking about graphics that "Infamous" video has all kinds of texture pop in and graphical glitches in it. Maybe it's an early build though.

Me, Liquid, Malta, and a couple other people were telling people this 6+ months ago.

There will never be another graphical leap like sprites to polygons. Or 2D to 3D. So get that out of your head.

As far as PC gamers go, ironically I'm sure one of them could explain to you how these new graphics are better from a technical standpoint, or the potential technological advantages this gen has over last gen, but you don't want to hear from them so :yeshrug:

as much as i dap you for the first time i have to disagree with you. i find it very naive when someone says it will never get better. we are in the biggest technology boom in our worlds history. do you truly think this is close to the farthest we will go. i can guarantee there will be vast improvent.

i mean in the near future you really dont think there will be 4k non glasses 3d games. even that is inevitable or at least a variation of it.

its very ignorant to think things wont advance anywhere to the point we are not wowed .

it will come

Here's the problem:

A console can only, at max, cost around $500. So it will never have the best graphical capabilities. It'll have the most cost effective chip that can be easily mass produced.

If you're into PC gaming you can see the future basically. There is cards out right now that blow the XBOX1 and PS4 out of the water, and neither console has shipped....hell, there is probably cards from a year ago that could do that. So we already know the max potential of this gen before it even starts. The same could be said for last gen.

What's funny is, like I said, a few of us called this shyt a long time ago. Why? Because we've kept track of PC gaming.

As far as 4K, no. That shyt will never be mainstream for a couple reasons. First off, cost. This ain't an HDTV selling for $3000 back in 1998, when nobody had them. These 4K sets sell for $20,000, the smallest ones sell for $5,000. By the time these things catch on, digital distribution will have more of a foothold than it already does, and nobody is going to download 4K files with capped bandwidth and throttled internet. One 4K movie is around 500 GB. :heh:

Besides, most next gen games don't even run in 1080p. If you think they're gonna run in 4K any time soon you're gonna be severely disappointed.

:stopitslime:
You had to be the debbie downer.

Hey, I said it might be an early built. But yeah, there is graphical problems in that video. Watch the back ground, certain parts all kinds of little shyt pops into view. Or watch the shadows when he's running, some go from blobs into the correct shapes to match whatever they come from.

shyt looks good but it's like a slightly prettier version of "GTA:V".

Infamous will never be released on PC so :manny:

Basically. PS4 exclusives don't have any comparions because the won't be on PC. Every multiplat that will be on PC will be>>>>>>>>>>> by default but don't no one need to be telling me how a PS4 exclusive doesn't look better than X game on PC when it's not even a version for it on the PC.

I know when Naughty Dog shows off their next title, it's going to leave nikkas in a coma. shyt I'll be blown away tomorrow night. :ohlawd:

i dont understand what seeing the future has anything to do with things not evolving enough to give you that wow factor.

and when the first flat screens came out they were running anywhere from 8-20k. now look

Of course it will continue to advance, but it wont move at the pace a lot of people think it will. People always like to bring up Moore's Laws but now its not starting to hold up due to Heat Issues. Eric Schmidt was talking about it a few weeks back on Facebook and even posted a research paper about it( To lazy to look for it ).

But found this

The Collapse of Moore's Law: Physicist Says It's Already Happening | TIME.com

"Despite Intel’s recent advances with tri-gate processors, Kaku argues the company has merely prolonged the inevitable: the law’s collapse due to heat and leakage issues"
“So there is an ultimate limit set by the laws of thermal dynamics and set by the laws of quantum mechanics as to how much computing power you can do with silicon,” says Kaku, noting “That’s the reason why the age of silicon will eventually come to a close,” and arguing that Moore’s Law could “flatten out completely” by 2022.

If you know how things look a gen or two ahead, then where is the wow factor coming from?

The only way you're gonna be :whoo: about graphics is run a $2000 graphics card on a custom built PC. And even that ain't gonna be the huge step you're talking about.

Most of these devs ain't trying to make games prettier, either, because of diminishing returns. Again, they have to work with whatever chip MS or Sony or whoever decided was cheap enough to use.

So I don't understand, who are these people that are supposed to push graphics to the next level? What do they have to gain by putting more effort into something like that? Why do you think these "next gen" games only look slightly better than last gen? Why do you think half of them still run at 30FPS and 720p?

Lastly, when flat screens costed $20,000 digital distribution didn't exist. Now you have Amazon, Netflix, torrents, and caps on internet bandwidth. You can stream HD video easily, you cannot stream 4K. You can't download 4K. The format is unwieldy as fukk. The only way it's going to exist is on disc, and physical media is slowly on the way out. Major developers like EA are already predicting it:

:why:

First and foremost, YOU ARE AN IMBECILE. Technology is always expensive when its new. But it always gets cheaper over time. To say 4K will never catch on because of cost is moronic. You ever heard of Google Fiber buddy. It downloads at 1 Gb/s. So your 500 GB 4K movies would only take about 9 minutes to download. And there was some other company in China that was able to offer speeds twice as fast as Google. So the technology is there. Its just a question of it become cheap enough to be ubiquitous.

None of your other arguments hold any merit as well. And this is why:

2. Yes a $500 console will never have the best graphical capabilities. BUT eventually the best graphics will be cheap enough to be only $500. Its not hard for me to imagine the gaming consoles of 2030 (if we even call them consoles by then) having graphics equivalent to jacking into the Matrix. Never say never. Its inevitable that we'll have virtual reality games that are indistinguishable from real life at an affordable price that everyone can afford. If you think computer simulations will never get that realistic, go to the newest Iron Man movie and tell me the CGI ain't real as real life. In 20 years what takes hundreds of servers months to render will be possible in real time on a $500 device. Just think, who woulda thought 20 years ago that everyone on earth would have smartphones today?

3. PC gaming does NOT give you a view on anything considering no one builds games for the highest end products. There isn't a large enough market of people who are have $3k gaming rigs for developers to spend millions to develop games made to exploit the graphical power. Almost all PC gaming are ports of console games that look better with the extra power. But the power of the newest most powerful graphics cards are never fully utilized till the next gen of consoles come out. The best description I've read of having an expensive PC gaming rig is having a $200k sports car. Sure it looks nice and has awesome power. But considering the speed limits, you'll never really ever use all that excess power.
