Most of North Jersey roots for NYC
Most of South Jersey roots for Philly

When you consider the Nets became an NBA team in 1977 and the Knicks have been around since the 1940s, it's easy to understand why there are so many NY fans

In hockey, the Devils moved to NJ in 1982 and the NY Rangers are one of the original 8 teams, since 1940...again it's easy to understand why there are so many NY fans
This combined with the fact the Nets spent so long basement dwelling

Remember the Nets started out in Long Island.

NY is the one who gets bytched. All the revenue is going to NJ. New yorkers go buy gas, cars, and clothes in NJ. NJ be eating off New Yorkers everything expensive as fukk here.

But majority of people who live in northern Jerz make their living in NYC.

NJ got a lot of black immigrants that stopped in NY for a while then went there. nikkas from Haiti, Trinidad, Jamaica, Ghana, Guyana, Panama. Italians,Greeks, Russians from Brighton Beach move to Staten Island, then to Jersey. I don't see a problem. NJ in between two of the top 5 biggest cities in the country. North Jersey got a city called West New York. NJ and NY are tied at the hip. Nowadays Jersey hoods way harder than NYC hood I'm embarassed how soft Brooklyn is right now except for Brownsville.
You’re embarrassed your hoods are getting safer?

When I was growing up, most people I knew were either Knicks or Lakers fan, some rooted for the Nets during the Finals years, but most part Nets fans were sparse. If the Nets were as successful as the Devils, they would’ve been have a solid fan base and would’ve stuck in Newark instead of Brooklyn. It is what is, not likely NJ gets another shot at the NBA.

When Rutgers lost to Michgan 78-0 in 2016, they had a lot of their top recruits attend... :dead:

This sums up their opinion of Rutgers football

new jersey is basically a bedroom community for new york and philly. typically it's not an entire state, just some sprawling suburbs near a big city, but with jersey it's the whole damn state.

much of the state is urban tho. The state is more urban than the entire south and much of the midwest

I’m like one of the only NJ Nets fans that became a Brooklyn fan. It’s just an easy transition for me. I just can’t bring myself to root for the Knicks unless they score a superstar or something. Like what everyone else in this thread said, it all comes down to where in the state you live. I live exactly 14 miles west of mid town manhattan so it’s clear to see why I root for NY teams. If I stayed in south jersey I’d obviously be more of a Philly sports fan because of the proximity to the city. New Jersey is so small and in between two major cities so it makes the whole sports thing unique.

Connecticut is pretty much in the same boat since it’s part of the Tri State area, but at the same time considered New England. They get NY media but I’m sure they get Boston media too so it comes down to preference.
